The Nephilim (giants) of Genesis may return one day...what does the Bible say?

Who are the Nephilim?

Whether or not the Nephilim will return, or appear again on the earth, is addressed by the Bible. They were first on the earth in Genesis 6 prior to the flood of Noah. They are the giant half-breed offspring of divine creatures (sons of God) and women. They are the mythological heroes of old such as the demi-gods Gilgamesh of the Sumerians and Hercules of the Greeks.

In the non-canonical book of Enoch we learn that these Nephilim are blood-thirsty, violent cannibals that attack man and one another, but also in some unspecified way “sin against the animals.” Enoch puts the blame for the earth's corruption on the shoulders of the Nephilim and their fathers, the sons of God. The Bible places blame on mankind. Probably both are true.

The Nephilim are wiped out with the rest of humanity in the flood. But, as predicted in Genesis 6:4, they return after the flood and begin to fill the Promised Land. The Hebrews must go in and kill them all in obedience to God. They do this over a number of generations, with the last recorded conflict being Goliath and the young David.

Will the Nephilim Return?

So now the question...will they ever be back?

Matthew 24:36-39 addresses this. The disciples have just asked Jesus when he will return. He answers, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”

As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of Jesus. From Genesis we know exactly two things that would characterize the 'days of Noah'. 1) Divine beings were interbreeding with women and 2) men's hearts were continually evil all the time.

The only 'marrying and giving in marriage' mentioned in the 'days of Noah' are the abomination of union between celestial and terrestrial! In the creation account, God states over and over the concept of his creatures reproducing after their own kind. This is how he intended procreation to be. Angel and women do not reproduce after their own kind. They create an abomination of a child, a giant with a predisposition for evil.

Jesus is clearly teaching that this abomination will restart itself in the Last Days. The sons of God will somehow begin interfering with human women in a procreative sense. Speculation runs wild but maybe this end time irruption will be less traditional than the Genesis marriages and will be more scientific, like through the technology of cloning, DNA manipulation or hybridization programs. Clearly, once again, evil will be magnified and universal. Then Jesus will return.

That seems to be a bit of a weak interpretation. The idea of marrying and giving in marriage could just as easily refer to living life as normal and being unaware of calamity that approaches. Important things in prophecy seem to get repeated, such as the Day of the Lord. This shows up again and again. A return of angelic hybrids would seem like a very important sign, why is it mentioned just once?

Since there is no procreation
among fallin angels they
needed the human race to
complete a wicked plan.
The giants were born to tamper with creation and to steal, kill, and destroy what
God had made.

Many misunderstand the statement Jesus made "in heaven there is no marriage".
Therefore angels do not marry; which is absolutely correct. Yet, it has no relation to the sons of God saw the daughters of men as beautiful and took them as wives (on the earth); therefore the fallen angels must have transformed themselves into very stunning men. And yes, they will return as Jesus stated "the end times will be EXACTLY as it was in the day of Noah"
