Do you live your life having others serve you or are you serving others equally?

A Message..

Last Sabbath was Usher’s Day and our very own pastor, Yvrain Jean-Phillipe, was our speaker inspired by God. He went on to describing the role of a Christian, rather than just an usher. Yes ushers are known as doorkeepers of the church, but we are to be doorkeepers of many we encounter in life. Daily, we all are to practice stewardship for one out of love, not worrying about who would treat and serve us. (Stewardship is the practice of serving.) Our pastor even got into depths talking about how Jesus spoke to Simon Peter about his poor stewardship towards Him. When Jesus had visited Simon Peter’s home, it was his servant that anointed and took care of Jesus, not Simon Peter. Christ has called us to be each other’s servants, despite our position. Meaning, I am a servant of a homeless and a homeless also is my servant. I am your servant just as you are mine. We are here to serve each others through Christ Jesus. One must not have pride doing this. (I am preaching to myself). Often time, we feel as if we have a status to hold, and it causes us to stand afraid to bend and serve others because of our fear of letting them take control over us. But Jesus did not go that far. He was a slave out of love. When washing the disciple Peter’s feet, all were at shock. They were to busy trying to find out who was the greatest one that sat amongst Jesus. Jesus wisely responds to them letting them know, ” For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither is he that sent greater than he that sent him” (John 13:15-16). Our Pastor went into using an analogy of a mango tree. Like a mango tree, if a branch gives no fuit, it stands straight and tall. But a branch that produces fruit always hangs low always being available to give. As Christians with our fruits provided by Christ, we must lower ourselves being available to men who seek help. One who stands with no fruit does not make himself available, acting as if he is better and of great status. But one who masters being great for himself, is sometime of no use to others. So then, what makes you valuable ?? When Jesus walked this earth, He was a God that made Himself of use. He had something to offer. I am here to open to ourselves that as Christians we are also slaves. If you want to be prideful and think as for as being master, I pray that you change your mindset. For Christ says that this is done out of love and not out of control. When we are servants to one another, we also open our hearts to Christ allowing Him to work through us. Let us lose the prideful mindset. Who cares if you go to church more often than me? Who cares if your church position makes you feel more superior than me? And who cares if you know about my secretive sinful life? You are my servant, if you see me sinking, I am going to need you to grab me. Because you watching me fall and cause you to stumble and fall. And it is the same for me. If I see you stumbling, I am going to have to push up my sleeves and help you remove what is causing you to stumble.

“Let nothing be done through strife of vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” (Philippians 2:3) KJV

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,” (Philippians 2:3) NIV

God bless*

Lord, I pray that I have NOT written this blog in vain for I want to be a better slave to another and others.

We live for giving love to others. But sometimes people use others' kindness as their own profit. Nice sharing, Rachel. Keep in touch.
