The children in this video got a maximum of one flog each, a far cry from the four to six belts that I remember being issued when I was in school.

What's all the fuss

It seems as though someone in Thailand has a problem with the use of corporal punishment against its students. My guess is that it is either another student, or a parent who is quite content with the anarchy that has now apparently replaced what used to be obedient students. Teachers in Thailand have been advised that the use of force against a student is not necessary and from all appearances can actually cause them to lose their jobs. While a certain measure of restraint is necessary, the example in this video should not reflect an overpowering use of physical force to keep these students in line.

The bible points out in the book of proverbs, “A refusal to correct is a refusal to love; love your children by disciplining them. Discipline your children while you still have the chance; indulging them destroys them. Don't be afraid to correct your young ones; a spanking won't kill them. A good spanking, in fact, might save them from something worse than death. Discipline your children; you'll be glad you did, they'll turn out delightful to live with. God is educating you; that's why you must never drop out. He's treating you as dear children. This trouble you're in isn't punishment; it's training, the normal experience of children. Only irresponsible parents leave children to fend for themselves. Would you prefer an irresponsible God? We respect our own parents for training and not spoiling us, so why not embrace God's training so we can truly live?”

When I was in school, (a Catholic School) I received my fair share of correction and even though, “at the time” I may have been against it, I understand why it was being done. Every child (without exception) will try to get over on an adult and for those who disagree with that statement, all I can say is this, you are living in a fantasy world. An individual must be held accountable for their actions, and yes if it means using the belt to prove that you were serious about what you said then so be it. The children in this video got a maximum of one flog each, a far cry from the four to six belts that I remember being issued when I was in school, so what's all the fuss about?
