Education should be more than just imparting knowledge to man. The aspect that has to be taken seriously dwells on the need to awaken the intuitive and creative powers in man to give him the advantage of naturally expressing himself rather than becoming an imitator.

The Grand Purpose of Education.

The basic purpose of education is the building of man by giving him knowledge, the awakening of genius and of desire in him for creative expression.
Modern educational programmes do not awaken genius or inspire its students. On the contrary, they suppress genius and develop inferiority complex and frustrations which discourage the really bright students.
Further more, modern education teaches students to remember and repeat information concerning effect, instead of teaching them to think and know the cause of those effects. It is instructive to note, that information is not knowledge. A human encyclopedia may have all the information in the world, yet be without knowledge. Just as food is not nourishment until it has been transformed to the blood stream of life, information thus, is not knowledge until comprehension has transformed it from its record on the brain to the consciousness of mind.
Great genius such as Thomas Edison, Mark Twain and countless others were considered stupid in school and given low marks because they could not pass the intelligence tests which lesser students with photographic memories could easily pass. And one can imagine how many others were discouraged and frustrated from reaching their potentials in life. The import here is simple; that parrot like minds are not usually creative and great creative minds are never parrot like. Therefore, if education desires to develop a highly cultured civilization , it should develop creative powers in men, and not make them imitators who add nothing to the world culture.
