I love the land and nature and this is where my heart belongs and where I'm the happiest.

We all have dreams what are yours?

To some dreams are just that, hope and wishes that one day one hopes to accomplish. For me living off the land has always been my dream. I love Nature!
I was blessed enough to be born in a place where we did not have much but we had it all...
For the first six years of my life the jungle was my life. Our home was made of trees and a dirt floor and our walls made out of branches and palm leaves braid together. No electric power no windows we were just part of the land. We live a very simple live but we were the most happy people to be around.
One could go down the river and just get fish or fruit and wild edible plant and roots to eat. We were healthy.

When I moved to the Azores that was a different life altogether a rock home with windows we still had a dirty floor and we had a huge yard with orange tree, a peach tree and 2 fig trees. Mom had a garden were she planted a veggies and she had some tea bushes all in one long row at the edge of the mountain.
We had no running water and water had to be collected every day from the local fountain. A job that was left for me to do every day.
We collected rain water for washing and doing the laundry which was all hand washed on a rock and hung to dry. It was a simple life but a beautiful life.
One year I recall my mother after going to visit a neighbour that had chickens that she too wanted some. Mind you we never saw one when we lived in the Amazon jungle.
This let to not only to chickens but some goats two dogs one cat. This started the cycle of love for domestic animals.
My father was a merchant and often gone for many month at the time. When he came home one day we have a farm going on. As it turns out it was not a bad thing.
He got my mom a horse so she could ride it to collect thing in the village instead of the long walk and a barn was built for the animals.
This type of life has always been very dear to my heart.

Dreams do come true but we have to work at them and never give up until it happens.

I often talk about it with my husband and he knows that this is my dream. I have no idea how he would ever be able to live a very simple life. He has lived in the city all of his life. I recall the first time we went camping, the panic in his eyes out in nature with a tent of all things not any protecting from the elements or the animals if any came our way. He could not sleep that night.
Over the years he has changed much he now loves the great out doors and all that is has to offer.
I recall the first time I took him to a farm to pick up apples. They had a small area with goats, rabbits and chicken a baby goat was free to roam around the area. He feel in love with this baby goat, he was the only adult playing with the goat. That was the most precious moment for me. I recall him saying no more meat for me. Not that we ever had any goat but we did have chicken from time to time.
This farm days experience for him changed his life. We return in the summer to the same farm to pick up strawberries and raspberries again he was more interested in the animals then picking up the fruit.

Lately he has been inquiring about moving from the city as it's just out of hand. No quiet time, construction every day across from us which is now going on eight month. I receive emails from Digman Land every month and we often go thru the listing for land that is available for sale. If anymore is interested this is their web site http://www.dignam.com
You can buy property from all over Canada at a very reasonable rate.
Last night we found a nice property that will not cost us two arms and four legs. Now in five years when he is able to retire early we will be able to move to a nice 1.25 acres or .51 hectares to live our dream.
Dreams do come true but we have to work at them and never give up until it happens.

I used to dream a lot, then the cruel reality awoke me, but I still believe that the LORD will grant me the desires of my heart. Excellent share!

Thank you so much Siva never give up dear friend. Right now our place is so small it should not even be called a apartment at all. Just under 550' square for two people but still better then our last one which was only 375' square and only one window. Sending you much love

I like this personal perspective into your life. It's intriguing, I personally am a little biased as I love the woods, and can't imagine city life as being desirable. I really connected with this story!

Very enjoyably read. I too had a very simple life growing up, no electricity, no running water etc. Today I live in a small community near the ocean. I like to take nature walks during the summer. Congratulations on being author of the day. Blessings.
