Treating Friends As You Want Them to Treat You
People will come and go, some are only in our lives for a little while. It is normal to argue, and sometimes we forget ourselves hurting those we love. It is important to admit when we are wrong, and make every effort to treat our friends the way we want them to treat us.
Think Before You Speak
When we are upset or angry we can often take it out on those closest to us without realizing it. This is when we do the most damage because they do not deserve this treatment from us.
When you get angry or upset it is important to step back from the situation and calm down before having contact with those you love. It will prevent you from taking your feelings out on them. Calming down first allows you to talk about what is going on without getting upset about it.
When we are hurt we react, and if we are already under stress we can overreact to the littlest things. We read things into things that meant entirely the opposite. When we are upset we read things wrong and hear them wrong.
Calm people ask when people meant instead of simply reacting to what they thought was meant. It is important to take the time to process things so that we do not react in a manner that hurts others.
Keeping those You Love
When we treat the ones we love like we want to be treated they show us love and kindness. It is important to keep the fact they are not the ones hurting us in mind when we are having a bad day.
Turning to our friends is one thing, taking out everything that is wrong on them is unacceptable. We have to learn to talk things out, and while we can lean on our friends it is important not to beat them up over something someone else did.
