If you have a senior in your home, here are some ways to care for your senior. It's costly to put them in nursing home. There are a few alternative.

How to care

If you have many other family members who can help out with the care for a senior than you can assign them to help out with the care. If you're at work, your teenagers can do lots to help out like feed them or do some errands for them or wheel them around.

If you always have someone at home, then you all can take turn to watch over for the person. It's less expensive than putting them in a nursing home or hire a
nurse aid to care for them. It cost like around $8000 a month for good nursing care in a nursing home so you can say that you will save yourself or your family that much per month if you take care of them at home and they will also not be abused.

Get an Aid

If you have no one else to take care of your elderly, then if it's your last resort, you can hire a home health aid to take care of the seniors for you.
If your elderly has some sort of illness, they might qualify for this service for free, or included in their medicare packaged. You would have to get an assessment to see if they do qualify, and most of the time, they might qualify, if they were ex-military or have some sort of long term
disability and illness.

Nursing Home

If it's your last resort, you can put them in a nursing home. It's very costly but if they have Medicare, it will cover the cost. If your elderly, has a very heavy illness, and you do not know how to care for them, it's best that you put them in a nursing home, where there are professionals who will know how to care for them. There are some demented seniors that will cause a lot of disasters at home, so it's ideal that you put them in a nursing home.

Some options

Senior Day care

There are plenty of senior day care in your community. You can put them there if you're too busy during the day time to care for them and you can pick them up during the night time. It's costly but there might be some coverage with Medicare. It's safer than nursing home, since you will get to pick them up at the end of the day.

Assisted Living

You can choose to put them in an assisted living home. They will get assistant from people who will help them daily with their needs. It's costly too of course, but if it helps you to maintain a normal life if they had other help.
