As followers of Christ we are encouraged to commit our way to the Lord. The next step is to Rest In Him. Because He is carrying our burdens, it isn't necessary for us to also bear them. Quite often that is exactly what we do. We cast our cares reluctantly on Him, then promptly take them back on ourselves.

What Is Patience?

Webster's Dictionary defines 'patience' as
1) the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like.
2) an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay:

3) quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence:

In Gladness Reflect God's Love And Grace

First ~ devote yourself to pleasing Him!
Then the gates of hell shall not prevail ~ against you.

Be Willing To Wait A Little Longer

Someone might ask "how dare you ask me to wait a little longer ~ when I've already waited ten years?' Here's the simple yet profound answer: be willing to

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths."

Joyfully Delighting In The Lord

Begin by taking delight In the Word of God:

The Book of Psalms ~ Psalm 37:4-5 ~ Amplified Bible (AMP) has this to say:

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord ; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.

In Spite Of What It Looks Like Don't Panic

Keep in mind that: The Lord is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. The question becomes will you allow His power in you to remain dormant ~ OR ~ will you cooperate with His plan and do your part?

Keep A Thankful Attitude

It is good to express genuine thanks on a regular basis. Why so? Because ~ an attitude of gratitude will enable us to reach the altitude we're striving for.

The more we express heartfelt Thanks, the more powerfully patient we are likely to become.

Thank you again for this timely post dear Helen .
I often marvel at the perfect timing of God after having to wait patiently for an answer or an outcome to a situation .
Learning to be content and grateful in the midst of the circumstance is a great lesson to learn for us all.

Thanks for your gracious comments ~ Mary. Yes becoming patient does require constant effort and often much self denial. Part of the definition for patience is :

the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint or loss of temper.

Blessings to you.
