The Percentage Factor

Some go to heaven and some go to hell. Unfortunately, those that are hell-bound don't seem to want it any other way.

Eternal destiny

According to the testimonies of several Christians who have had spiritual (out of body) encounters with Jesus, less than 2% of people that die go to heaven. This would include children who have not reached the age of accountability. Simple arithmetic, therefore, tells us that at least 98% of those who die plummet into hell.

I know this is a blunt statement and not a tasteful subject, but it needs to be given serious consideration – especially if we regard ourselves as Christians who are concerned about family members and friends who have not as yet accepted salvation through Jesus Christ.

Another alarming aspect is that the 98% includes totally backslidden Christians (if indeed they were Christians in the first place) as well as those who declare that they are Christians, but are in captivity to the god (Satan) of this world as is evident in the lifestyle they follow on a daily basis. The latter group would be made up of people who apply a lackadaisical approach to the Christian faith they purport to follow. One could say that they have a backburner attitude to the Christian faith while running with the world and its attractions. They are actually embarrassed to talk about the Christian faith.
Let’s take a closer look at this group in the light of God’s word.

Love one or the other

God tells us that should we love this world and the things therein, then the love of God is not in us. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” (1 John 2:15,16)

In fact, we are told that we are enemies of God should we be lovers of the world and its attractions. “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4)

Would this not appear strange considering the fact that God placed us in this environment, but does not want us to enjoy it at all? What is the problem then?
The problem is God-consciousness – or lack thereof.

If we want to plainly see what God is talking about all we have to do is turn on our television sets and look at any channel and any programme (except, of course, the purely Christian channels) and we will not hear any reference to the existence of God. God does not play a role in the mindset of the world at all.

The world and its human factor were created by God. Humankind would not have existed otherwise. God is the owner of everything in existence, including this planet on which we live. Authority over everything on earth was given to man by God and man was made accountable to God for his actions as caretaker of the earth. But God is excluded, obliterated and the mention of the name of Jesus is even banned by all governments on this planet. The only reference made to God comes in the form of blasphemy and the name of Jesus is used as vile expletive, a curse word – as in evident in almost every movie coming out of Hollywood.

Movies, in general, and soap operas, specifically, promote the following: Adultery, wife-swopping, unfaithfulness, fornication, divorce, conflict, strife, jealousy, lust, anger, hatred, pride, self-centredness, corruption, greed, revenge and murder. It is impossible for anyone who addictively watches these shows on a daily basis to have any God-consciousness at all. They are slaves of the world and the prince of the power of the air. I know that this will raise the ire of family members and friends who read this, but it is the truth and there is no way to escape the truth. If God says so, then who are we to dispute it? "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world." (Titus 2:11,12)

Break the stranglehold

Satan is known as the god of this world (also prince of this world) because of the stranglehold he has on the activities of fallen men and those who half-heartedly align themselves with God. If we are friends with the world then we are friends with the devil.
God makes this abundantly clear.

Gal 5:19 “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”

It is simple. We have to decide whether we are Christ’s or whether we lean towards the devil.

There is absolutely no doubt, whatsoever, that we are living in the very last days before the last hour arrives - the last hour when Jesus will “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” (2Thess. 1:8,9)

It should be borne in mind that all who are alive have already been judged. Those who have accepted Jesus Christ have a flight to heaven when they die and those who have not or those who love the world take a fall to hell when they die. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Heb 9:27).
This actually denotes that it is the execution and consequence of that judgement.

There are two classes of spiritual prisoners on earth. Those, like the Apostle Paul – “For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,” (Eph 3:1) – and those who are spiritual captives of Satan and for this reason are unable to put on God-consciousness and escape their worldly ways.

May there be a dramatic increase in that heaven-bound percentage.
