The Great unheeded Warning

The life we live comes with a warning, but we pay scant attention to that warning.

A clear warning

The Bible is God’s book of warning to the human race. What is that warning? It is a warning that spells out the fact, throughout the Bible, that we are dead and condemned and that we need a new life. That’s how simple it is. But what does it mean to be dead if we are alive and well and living on planet Earth?

Now this is going to sound complicated, but if you pay close attention you might get it. To be dead and not to have gotten a new life means that you are going to continue your dead life in Hell. To be exact, you are never going to die. Hell is going to be your place of punishment for living a dead life on earth. Perhaps you are saying, “But if I die I will know nothing!”
What makes you think you will know nothing?

Perhaps you think you will know nothing because you are comparing it to sleep or the illusion of nothingness when accidentally knocked unconscious or the nothingness of being under an anaesthetic in a hospital operating theatre. The “nothingness” in these cases only means that you are rendered unconscious as far as your body is concerned. Your consciousness is seated in your spirit, which is your real life. Should you “die” while sleeping or as a result of an accident or on the operating table, your spiritual consciousness is set free from your body as if you had suddenly revived and as if you had never died at all and all of your senses come back into play. And you will wonder why you are surrounded by demons on your way to Hell. Of course, this will not be the case had you heeded God’s warning.

Success counts for nothing

If your parents never heeded God’s warning then it is likely that you will have dismissed it also. You will progress in life and perhaps be successful at home and at work, but at the age of 50 or 60 (if ill health, an accident or the operating theatre did not prevent you from reaching that age) you will probably look back and exclaim, “What the hell was it all about? I worked, I leisured, I suffered now and then and now I’m getting ready to retire to what? Surely, there must be something more to life!” You’d be damned right that there is something missing. It’s the fact that you are still dead. Perhaps many a time someone pointed out to you that you needed a new life, but you scoffed at the idea of that new life and salvation through Jesus Christ.

Let me make something clear to you - and I’m going to be quite ruthless for your own good. You were born with blood tainted by sin and this killed you even before you were born. You have sinners blood flowing through your veins making you as vile as all the other vile human creatures breathing air on this planet and it is going to take you straight to Hell. There is nothing worse, nothing lower than being a sinner. You are nothing more than a dirty, filthy rag and you deserve nothing good ever in your dead life. But because God loves you He sent His Word, Jesus Christ, to not only wash away the sin element in your blood, but to also give you a brand new life, a new spirit within your body so that your blood would not become tainted again.

Good news

What you’ve just heard (by reading this) is the gospel of Jesus Christ. “Gospel” means good news – the good news that God’s Word took on the form of a human being in the Person of Jesus Christ; took our punishment and suffering upon Himself; cleansed us from all sin; went to Hell in our place; and because He was without sin of His own was raised from the dead and passed His new life on to us. In other words, we became one with Him in His death and one with Him in His new life, the only difference being that we did not have to suffer the punishment for our condition of sin and spending eternity in Hell.

However, we have to understand that although God compels us to come to the Cross because of His love for us, He does not enforce the act of us doing so. It is a matter of our freedom of choice. We either accept God’s love or we reject it, which basically means that if we reject the new life, then we are demonstrating the fact that we are prepared to suffer the consequences, that is, punishment for our own sins, leading to eternity in Hell.

Book of Life

Don’t take God’s warning lightly. If you read the Bible you’ll see that God has a Book of Life. If your name is not in there by the time you take your very last breath of air on this planet, know it is because you chose death instead of life. Even although you might be living a dead life right now, God loves you even as you are and wants to turn the filthy rag that you are into a sheet as white as snow. He wants you no other way. And there’s no other way to Heaven except through Jesus Christ.

I want to say again, life does not end when you die. A dead life goes to Hell – no matter how good a person you think you are - and a new life goes to Heaven. There are no smiles in Hell. There is untold joy in Heaven. It is as clear and as simple as that.

OK - so where's your proof? If you say "The Bible" you must also explain why that counts as proof. If you then say that "this is God's word" then you have to offer proof that God actually exists, and nobody has ever been able to do that without arguing in a circle.

Let's consider all the non-fiction books you've read and studied. Do they offer any proof? And yet you believe what men write. If there's any book you can believe then it is the one God wrote.

Jack, As I said, you have to involve a circular argument - assuming the truth of the thing that you are asked to prove.

Er - yes - many non-fiction books are all about proof. Books on logic and mathematics come pretty high up the list!

By the way, if God wrote the Bible, he employed a lousy team of editors! Many of the books are a complete mess of interwoven texts that overlap and contradict each other.

John, for you (and many others) only time will tell. But please, please, don't leave it there.

Jack ... you certainly don't pull any punches , but , if a carnal man has not bee brought to life by the Spirit of God , then you can debate and argue for ever and nothing will change..
It has to be the Holy Spirit who draws a person to the Father through the finished work at Calvary .
I truly pray that John will come to that place , and know the love of God that is life changing and leads to full salvation
God bless you my friend

Stella, I appreciate your sentiments, but I see little point in following a road that leads nowhere.

It was the realisation of the harm that religion has caused in the world that made me decide to have nothing more to do with it, together with the knowledge that one can can lead a perfectly moral life without needing to subscribe to any set of rules laid down by a religion.

I have yet to come across any religious person who can adequately explain what their platitudes actually mean - it all seems to come down to "faith", which is frankly not a good enough reason for me to accept the whole package that they are trying to sell.

Atheism and Humanism strike me as much more logical and sensible approaches than Christianity or any other religion. They seek to unite mankind, not divide it between believers and non-believers, which is where the trouble starts.

John, you're referring to man-made religions and false Christianity (such as the Crusaders). Christianity is not about religion. It is about redemption from our inborn condition of sin.

I quote Charles Spurgeon: "If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no-one go there unwarned and unprayed for."

Many terrible things have been done in the name of religion, and still are. You only have to look at some recent posts on this website, condemning homosexuals as evil people who must be shunned from society, to see the awful attitudes that Christianity leads some people to adopt.

The "inborn condition of sin" is pure invention, designed to give people a sense of guilt that can only be assuaged by signing up to a religious doctrine. I find this notion to be deeply immoral and one that all right-thinking people should reject at the outset.

Yes John , you are right ...many terrible things have been done in the name of religion..as they have in humanism and atheism ...which are just names of two more religions ( or maybe one and the same )
Everybody believes in something ...humanists believe in themselves ..
One of my sons professes atheism , and is quick to tell me it is all fairy tales ...He has more faith than I do if he believes in fairies ..Sadly he isn't alone there , many people are bewitched by some spiritual faith these days ..
I prefer to put my faith and trust in the Living Saviour , who gave His life for me , so that I would never perish but will have eternal life with Him in heaven .
He has saved me from much my friend , and I pray He will touch your heart and give you understanding of His perfect saving grace in your life .
Many blessings to all here

The idea of existing for ever in some disembodied form is not one that fills me with pleasure - is that really what you want?

I shall be known as I am known here John , but I will have an Immortal body , not one that perishes or eels pain and sickness , but one that will experience joy and love in a way that I have never known in this life .
Yes , that is what I really want ...
I also desire it for you my friend .
Many Godly blessings
