Grieving when you have lost a loved one. There are not set ways or time limits on grieving. Everyone needs to go through the grief process.

Trying to Find a Reason

When a family member or close friend passes away the first thing people do is try to figure out why. We always here there is a reason for everything. That might not be the case. For nineteen years I have tried to find the reason my twenty year old brother was killed in a car accident. I have yet to find that reason. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time that is the reason. It's hard to accept and you want to find a divine reason but that may not come. Looking for a reason may prolong the grieving period and cause more stress than you need at this time.

Just Grieve

Grieving is healthy and everyone does it differently. Do whatever works for you. Don't let anyone tell you that you how or when to grieve. It may take time to set in that your loved one is gone so if you aren't grieving immediately that doesn't mean there is something wrong with you or you didn't care enough. Your time will come. Also, there is no set time limit to grieving. Those that have not experience this may think enough time has passed but maybe it hasn't.

It Does Get Easier

People will tell you it will get easier as time passes. You will want to scream everytime you hear this but they are right. This is also something with no time limit. Maybe after a few months you'll have one good day this doesn't mean you won't have more bad days. One good day is a sign of hope that at some point there will be others and maybe they will be closer. Having good days shouldn't make you feel guilty. Everyone needs to move on at some point. Moving on doesn't mean forgetting it just means you are coming to term with your loss.

I am a mom and wife who loves to write and I always have. When getting my undergraduate degree I found out that not only enjoy writing but I do it fairly well. I continue to find ways to work on my writing and maybe someday I'll even write a book!
