Have you ever had to run for your life? Have there been someone after you will the intent of harming you? Find out why everyone must flee from sin in the same way that one runs from someone that wishes to harm you.

Is Running Good for You?

The daily recommended exercise for most people is 30 minutes a day for at least five days a week.

Most of us clearly do not get enough exercise.

But what if you were running from someone or something?

In May of 2012, there was a Run For Your Lives 5k held in Massachusetts. To make the 5k more interesting, some people came dressed as zombies to chase runners through the prescribed course.

While this is all fun and games, some people really are running for their lives, but they aren't running from flesh-eating zombies.

How Do Christians Protect Themselves From Evil?

For the Christian, the Bible instructs us to run from the temptation of sin.

1 Corinthians 6:18 says: "Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body."

Sexual immorality is not only sex outside of and before marriage, but pornography is also included. The word "fornication" comes from the root word of "pornia," which is the same root word in pornography. They are one and the same. Run from both.

In James 4:7, the Bible says: "Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

However, if you do not resist the devil, he will accompany you all the way to your grave. Trust me, he wants to see you fail, because he hates all of God's creation. Read more about Lucifer's fall from Heaven, here.

The most straightforward way to flee from sin is to read the Bible, and follow its guidance. The Bible can be best understood when explained by Bible-believing Christians, which can most easily be found at a church that correctly teaches God's Word.

The old saying goes: "The Bible will keep you far from sin, or sin will keep you far from the Bible."

If you allow it, sin will take you to an early grave.

Do you really want that?

For Those Who Cannot Run

Not everybody can run. Some people are too old, and some are just learning to walk.

Just remember this. If you choose God at any moment in your life, there are no prerequisites nor restrictions. There is no age that is too old, nor any age too young to accept Christ. For those that are young, at the point that they understand they need a Savior, they are old enough to trust in God.

There are many stories of children who wanted to trust in God at a young age, yet their parents said, "You are too young." There is no better time. If you put off salvation, chances are you will procrastinate your life away.

Those who boast that they are going to make a "death-bed confession" are not so smart, for death will wait for no man. If you will not live for God in this one and only life, you most certainly will not live with Him in eternity, where everyone is praising and glorifying God.

So if you cannot run, find the true path of righteousness, and walk straight toward God.

Proverbs 4:14 says: "Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not proceed in the way of evil men."

Don't Live a Life on the Run

Those who choose to live a life on the run will not get to enjoy the abundance of life that God desires for each and every person.

The only way to develop meaningful relationships with other people is to be consistent, and grow with others as you seek God.

So instead of wishing for a life of peace and contentment, experience it!

Seek God with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength, and He will reveal Himself to you.

Thank you, Zach. I have read the Bible, over years, here and there, inconsistently. Would you please tell me how, in what order, should I start again to read the Bible so that I am able to feel the flow of this wonderful Book.
