This article is a look back at my own teen years, things remembered that stick with you.

Remembering My Teen Years

With both my boys' graduating over the weekend, I have been thinking back to my own teen years. As I sat in the stands watching my sons receive their diploma's, I vividly remembered when I had received my own. Although I was in a completely different school, and a much larger class than they were in.
What I remember about my teens is that I was extremely shy and quiet. I only hung out with a few people, one of which was my boyfriend, who I am now married to. I remember there being one boy at school that would always have some smart comment to make to me. I really didn't know why, we were not even "in" with the same crowd. And then I remember my boyfriend finding out, and basically daring him to say something to me again. You know, he never said another word to me.
I think the biggest thing I remember is all the first times of things done....and no, I'm not going to talk about what you think here. Lol. I'm talking about sharing my first big screen movie with my boyfriend, as well as our first haunted house date, where upon exiting, someone I knew grabbed my leg from under the stairs and scared the daylights out of me. I even remember things that did not interest me, like him taking me with him to go fishing. I was never big on fishing, but I always enjoyed going just for the time spent together.
Beyond that, I remember things like my favorite show at the time, which was Beverly Hills 90210. It was such a different world than I lived in. And the most important thing I had to worry about was getting my chores done, perfect attendance at school, and getting to the end of my school years.
I think we all should take a few minutes now and then to remember our past. Of course, there will be things that come up that you may not want to remember, but at least you'll know you got past it. Maybe even share those things you remember with your teens. Give them a little insight into what your life was like. It may just help them, in some way, get through theirs.
