Immigrants to America helped spread diverse cultures, including religion.

Religions

Immigrants who traveled America brought many different cultures with them. That is why America is known as a giant "melting pot" of cultures. Along with food, traditions, stories, etc., people brought religion with them. Here are some religions that have been carried along to the US of A.

Christianity- Christianity is the world's largest religion. There are about two billion people in the world who follow Christianity, 33% of the world population. It was founded around 30 AD in Palestine.

Buddhism- Buddhism has 365 million followers, which is 6% of the world's population. Buddhism was founded in northern India.

Confucianism- Confucianism has six million followers. There are 26,000 followers in North America and almost everyone else throughout China and Asia.

Hinduism- There is 837 million followers of Hinduism, 13% of the Earth's population. It is often known as the world's oldest religion. It is thought to have been founded during 4,000-2,200 BC.

Islam- About 21% of the world population follows Islam, which is about 0.7-1.2 billion people. If current trends stay the same, Islam will surpass Christianity as the most popular religion by the mid-21 century.

Judaism- Judaism was founded at about 2,000 BC. Judaism has 18 million followers, only 0.2% of the world's population, mostly due to the Holocaust in World War II. There are seven million followers in North America and 4.5 million in Israel.

Sikhism- It is thought that Sikhism has 23 or 24 million followers. It was founded by Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Taoism- Taoism's founder is believed to be Lao-Tse. Taoism has about 20 million followers.

Those are some religions that were spread to America. If a religion wasn't on here, please don't feel bad, because I only put the major ones.
