Reincarnation: A Fact or an Imagination

Reincarnation from a Catholic's point of view. A look at how non-believers like me could turn into not exactly "believer" but at the point of considering.

"Brian Rathbone, Call of the Herald"

“This life is but a brief tenure, one of many perspectives a spirit must experience in the quest for eternity.”

My take

I have always been fascinated by the idea of reincarnation. I am a Roman Catholic by religion but don't get me wrong. I don't have any doubts in my faith. But I just thought, maybe, just maybe, there are events in our lives that need second thoughts. That we need further explanation, consideration, or thorough exploration. Because maybe, just maybe, they were really existing all along.

Although reincarnation is a part of Budhism's (or any other faith's) philosophy, ironically, being a Christian, I can't help but wonder why some random things in life exactly similar seem to conspire to be put together and to happen to two different individuals generations apart.

This eery sensation stemmed out from the feeling of seeing someone for the first time but it felt like there was an instant connection that you cannot possibly explain. Feeling that you know deep inside you that you knew a person from way back when in fact you just met him or her.

In fact, I have been having recurring dream since i was young that I can't even explain. That I have the capability of flying. I can go wherever I wanted to. I felt so light. Short of saying, I felt like Peter Pan or something but I did not even notice how I look like when up in the air. Funny isn't it? But if dreams have that capability of bringing us our past, then I guess I already have the idea what my past life was.

Most notable suspected reincarnation by far

I tried to research on those personalities who were believed to be having reincarnated into another notable personalities but no pair has ever been as close as these two individuals: United State's former presidents Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy.

These have long been part of discussions and debates over the past few years. I have heard about this a long time ago but it was only now that I considered having little bit of reading about this two personalities. The facts I have gathered are quite unnerving since almost everything as far as the 2 men's relationships, presidency, family, death, etc are identical. You go figure out yourselves.

Life and Family

1. Lincoln and Kennedy both had brothers named Robert and Edward
2. Lincoln and Kennedy both lost a son and a sister while president
3. Lincoln's son married "Mary Eunice Harlan" while Kennedy had a sister named Eunice Mary Kennedy
4. Both presidents studied law and served in the military
5. Both liked to quote the Bible and Shakespeare
6. Both were fluent in french.

Politics and Presidency

1. Prior to the election in 1860, two Presidential candidates, Lincoln and Stephen Douglas engaged in what was known as the Great Debates. One hundred years later prior to the election of 1960 two Presidential candidates, Kennedy and Richard Nixon, for the first time in history engaged in a series of televised debates
2. Lincoln was elected president in 1860. Kennedy was elected president in 1960
3. Both had the legality of their elections contested.
4. Both were directly involved with black civil rights.
5. Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
6. Both were succeeded by Southern Democrats named Johnson which were both born in '08, both Vice Presidents and were former senators.
7. Lincoln's secretary whose name is John Kennedy, advised him not to go to the theater. Kennedy's secretary whose name is Evelyn Lincoln, advised him not to go to Dallas. (Evelyn's husband was named Abe.)

1. Lincoln was shot in Ford's Theater while Kennedy was shot in a Ford Lincoln car
2. Both died with their wives by their side (shot in the head) - both wives however were not injured.
3. Both were shot on a Friday.
4. Both were shot while sitting with another couple.
5. Both were shot with another member of their entourage being injured, but not fatally.
6. Both their killer's names; "John Wilkes Booth" (born 1839) "Lee Harvey Oswald" (born 1939) had 15 letters..
7. Both killers were Southerners favoring extremist views.
8. Both were known by their first, middle and last names.
9. Booth (Lincon's killer) was aided in his escape from Washington by a man named "Oswald". Kennedy's assassin's name was "Oswald"
10. Lincoln was sitting in box 7 when killed. Kennedy was riding in car 7 when killed
11. Lincoln's killer: Booth ran from the theater and was captured in a warehouse (barn)
while Kennedy's killer: Oswald ran from a warehouse and was captured in a theater
12. Both assassins were detained by an officer named Baker
13. Both assassins were themselves assassinated before their trials.
14. After Lincoln's funeral, his family moved to Georgetown at 3014 N Street, while after Kennedys funeral, his family moved to Georgetown at 3017 N Street
15. A month before Lincoln was assassinated he was in Monroe, Maryland. A month before Kennedy was assassinated he was with Marilyn Monroe.
16. Both President’s caskets were carried in death on the same caisson.

If these were all mere coincidence, I do not know what other jokes this life can throw at us.

Very interesting share, Sandy. We do not know who we really are. We do know where we were before birth and so it may be similar state after death. I keep an open mind in my beliefs and attitude to life - siva

I agree Siva. Nobody is certain about anything in life so might as well keep an open mind and be observant all the time. Thanks for reading.

interesting and many people unfortunately do not believe anything that cannot bw see or touched...but re-embodiment does go on and the soul takes different human bodies in order to experience all and clear karma from other lifetimes...I know of many of my lifetimes...thank you for this anyway..

Life is full of mystery indeed. I would really love to meet a person who is actually aware of his past life. That would be awesome.

You mention " men's mystery " although every living form has its own. Beside the past, existential present & future regarding enlightened consciousness seem an interminable challenge: the cause & effect laws remind us to put brakes on every acts.Take good care of all surrounding you is the best of resistant force..
