What more can we say about the Agape Love? No matter your beliefs or religion, if we can love each other this way, we will live in a better world. One good point to note is: The S.I unit of Love is "yourself" If you cannot love yourself, how then can you Love your neighbour?

Introduction!

The first two episodes of this series : Practical Application of Love are mainly focused on a general practical reality. The next two (with this one inclusive), would be more practical based on the Christ-Like Life. Nonetheless, we all irrespective of our beliefs can benefit from it, one way or the other.

Please, I want us to note that this is just an explanation of Love based on my belief as a Christian, but targeted to all. I in no way condemn other beliefs and would even appreciate it, if you share yours with me either in the comment section or by publishing yours for me and others to read and learn. One thing we should know is: Love is a universal phenomenon, but sometimes we need some certain principles and guide in other to make it work in our Lives or relationships, and since the increase rate of its ineffectiveness in our marriages and relationships is becoming rampant in this generation, I felt the need to elaborate this. So, I hope you enjoy reading and please leave your thoughts and questions. For the first two episodes in this series, click on the links below:

Love yourself first

What is more self explanatory than this: "Would any of you give your hungry child a stone, if the child asked for some bread? Would you give your child a snake if the child asked for a fish? As bad as you are, you still know how to give good gifts to your children. But your heavenly Father is even more ready to give good things to people who ask"?- Matthew 7:9-11.

1 John 3:1 says "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him". What you believe about yourself- your self esteem, your sense of value, your sense of worth- sets the limits for your life. We can see ourselves from different points of view.
• We can see ourselves as the world sees us: this makes us slaves to other people.
• We can see ourselves as we see ourselves; this can make us either arrogant or timid.
• We can see ourselves the way God sees us; this frees us to be the best we can be.

When we see ourselves the way God sees us it enables us to live our lives the way God created us to be and the way He intends us to live. The problem that many people have today is they don't really even like themselves. They constantly focus on their faults and short comings and then wonder why they don't enjoy life or have any enthusiasm or their relationships aren't working or why they are not like others. Understand that you cannot be negative toward yourself and expect to live a positive, faith-filled life.

In order to love yourself so that you can love others, you have to first accept that God loves you unconditionally. That thought will liberate you from any sense of inferiority or arrogance. It focuses your identity on God and not on what you have or do not have. If you'll get your thinking corrected and start thinking like a beloved child of the most high God, who is crowned with favor, you'll be amazed at what will happen. You will rise from the life of a loser to the life of a winner in Christ.

When you allow thoughts of acceptance and love fill your heart and mind, it will spill over onto the people around you. When you love yourself the way God loves you, that love will pour out on others as well. As you live and love the way God intends, you will find peace, joy and victory in every area of your life!
This Bible passage says it all:
1 John 3: 16-19: "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything."

What more can we say to this? If we love each other based on this instruction from the passage above, won't this world be a better place? Let's do well to love our neighbor as much as we Love ourselves because it is in fact to our own good.

In this world, we all come alone irrespective of twin, triplets, quadruplets for we have our own individual personalities but have similar attitudes and beliefs. It all boils down to the upbringing that is given to them as that is what maketh a man/woman and the way they behave portrays the respect and pride they have for the parents who brought them into the world and instilled the values in them.

This world will turn into heaven if we are grateful and see God's image in others including all species - entire nature itself. Though I have spent all my time in Asia, I have moved closely with many other nationalities and the one factor that easily crosses all artificial barriers is love - why even a kind smile is more than enough to touch and melt any heart. I have seen toddlers yearning for love and attention from even strangers but that basic instinct is extinguished soon in a cililized world! As we grow up, we are told how different we are by every permutation and combination! Thanks for touching on the very basics, Funom - siva

Thank you sivaramakrishnan... You have adequately illustrated the practical present situation of the world and this is appalling.
I hope these Love series will go round
