Personal Responsibility

Have you ever sued anyone? Why? Do you take any responsibility for your own actions? Do you think health and Safety is going mad?

Grow Up!

Today we are obsessed with blame. One of the worst things ever invented has been the ‘Compensation Culture’. It is ridiculous, in my opinion, to ask money of someone because for example, their gate hits you. Come on! You are a grown person. You are capable of looking out for a heavy gate and making sure you avoid it.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think local authorities have a responsibility to maintain public places and accesses to such places. If an old man or woman trips on a pavement that the local authorities have been warned about on several previous occasions and have done nothing to fix then yes, they should be made to pay, to take responsibility for their lack of action, attention and care.

However, someone has a slight bump in a car and the other driver tries it on (not actually injured) is not my idea of a fair and just world. This is someone trying to get a quick, easy buck! Had they maintained a proper distance from the car, they would possibly not have been in that situation.

Nowadays, fewer and fewer people want to take responsibility for themselves. They put their health completely in the hands of doctors, rather than trying to help themselves first. They put their money in the hands of banks, who usually go bust themselves. They decide what party to vote on based on spin doctors, and not the integrity of the politicians.

We hand over power over ourselves to everyone else, and then wonder when we ourselves are sued for some minor transgression.

The poor get poorer, the Injury Lawyers get richer and while we moan about it, we don’t do anything.

Health and Safety Officers rule the world, and again people can be sued as a result of their ‘Risk Assessments’. They wrap us in cotton wool and some wonder why people are less capable now of anything than in the past.

Christmas Crackers are classed as dangerous now, and cannot be sold to anyone under 18. This is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. If you treat people like children they will become like children.

People should take personal responsibility for themselves, their actions and their lives. Only when we do this can we grow as individuals and as a society.

Americans in particular have a bad name for being sue hungry even over trivial matters.

Well this American is so sick and tired of folks suing over stupid or made up stuff.
I know of some legit cases that get no where, while selfish folks, get something for nothing.
Good read.
Thank you for sharing.:)

It's getting bigger and bigger over here too. Really sad, as most who sue aren't genuine. The ones who could don't because they don't want to be tarnished with same brush.
Thanks for your comments :D

I knew a woman once who
used to slip over deliberately in shops
in order to sue them.
She came to grief ,eventually,
because she thought that if she threw
her husband out of the house
he would be forced to maintain her.
When she discovered that was not
the case, she tried to get him back, but he wouldnt come.

brilliant write!
I mean yes we all should take reponsibilities of our lives ourselves, whatever we do or whatever goes wrong from our side and should stop the "blame game"!
good thought!
