You learn something new every day and you learn quickly when you have kids! So tips can be invaluable.

New Mom: Parenting Tips

If only I knew that! Why is it that you seem to come across the most appropriate advice after the event! So I can only hope some for these tips come in useful for you.


1. How to reduce water retention (after pregnancy):
Add a couple of drops of juniper oil to your body moisturiser and gentle massage into ankles and tummy area.

2. How to aid breast feeding:
Try some fennel tea, this is known to improve milk production.

3. How to avoid stretch marks:
Oil rubbed into the skin daily is the best way to avoid or at very least reduce stretch marks. Bio oil, cocoa butter and vitamin E work well however you could also try a base oil such as wheat germ, grape seed or even olive oil.

4. How to heal stitches:
Aloe Vera gel with added tea tree or lavender applied twice a day is a brilliant way to aid healing and reduce infection.

5. How to pee after you've just given birth:
To reduce that sting fill a bottle with water and pour between your legs wen peeing, this will reduce the sting of the uric acid.

6. How to help constipation in babies:
A spoonful of natural fruit sugar in some warm water works well or apple juice.

7. How to prevent nappy/diaper rash:
Apply Aloe Vera gel after each change to reduce the development of any rash.

8. How to prevent head lice:
After washing add a drop of tea tree oil to the final rinse, this will coat the hard and reduce the chance of lice.

9. How to aid natural sleep:
Try a scented bath to aid a peaceful nights sleep.

10. How to reduce a headache:
If it feels like you've tried everything to stop headaches then it may be possible that you have a food sensitivity. Try reducing your intake of coffee, chocolate and cheese for a couple of weeks to see if there's an improvement.

Good tips, I am sure lots of new mothers will appreciate them.
My wife's tip is not to have kids too young, wait until you are ready, and she also says one kid is plenty, but if you think you want to, wait until the first is at least 2 years before planning your next.
