Missing Mom

A short poem to describe my feelings when I had to say goodbye to my beloved mother, how difficult it is to lose our moms, but the hope of seeing them again someday.

Mom's Last Day

On this day, so long ago,
My dear, sweet mother did not know,
That her last day on earth had come,
Leaving each of us, so sad, so numb.

I remember it well, that sad, last night,
Holding mom's hand, praying hard she would fight.
But hours before, as I sat by her side,
On her beautiful face, a smile so wide.

Mom spoke to me gently, eyes brimming with love,
Said she was ready to meet Jesus, in Heaven above.
Mom's love for her Saviour, so real and so pure,
To spend eternity in Paradise, a heaven-sent cure.

So with a heart truly breaking, I kissed her goodbye,
Whispered how much I loved her, trying hard not to cry.
For I knew where she was headed, and who she would meet,
How could I deny her a reunion so sweet.

Thank you so much for your comment, and yes, we do all have to leave at some point, and it is hard to say goodbye.
