Me Time

Mother's often forget to take care of themselves they are busy taking care of everyone else. Those few moments that you spend doing something for yourself are some of the most important.

Morning Coffee

My morning coffee ritual is peaceful lately, it is starting between 4:30 and 5 in the morning. I drink it while I write letters or watch old television shows. It continues until I get my little girl up for school and again when she is off to school. I often have an all day coffee pot.

It is relaxing especially on a cold morning when there is nothing else that has to be done at the moment. Weekend's when it's cold coffee is my best friend, just don't tell my actual best friend.

Reading Just to Read

It is nice to once again read something just to read it. The years spent working from home involved a lot of research that took the fun out of reading for a while. Now that I do not do research on a daily basis I am beginning to enjoy reading again.

I have found an hour a day that I can read. I would like to read at least four books each month. That's one a week which means that I will have plenty of me time to clear my head, and something to write reviews about.

Pampering Myself

Once again I am finding time for treats such as facials, manicures and pedicures. It is nice to have time by myself to perform the tasks even if I have to do them myself. While I may not be getting younger I can look and feel younger than I am.

Strange as it may sound part of pampering myself is walking a couple of miles a few times a week. It is relaxing to leave while it is still dark outside and get back in time to do things. Once the weather gets cooler I will be waiting until it warms up though to prevent getting sick.

Every Moment Helps

While my "Me time" is sometimes less than I would like every moment helps to calm my nerves. The last couple of years have been spent trying to heal from the eight years that proceeded them.

The focus now is living our lives as peacefully as possible; that means ensuring that I can take care of myself so that I can take care of my little girl. I wake up early but take a nightly nap that has me up in the wee hours of the morning. I use that as time for myself instead of getting upset.

My boyfriend works nights so I'll use this time to briefly talk to him. I sleep better when there is time for myself in the day.

Conclusion

Learning to relax again took a lot of time, but I am slowly getting used to it. The time spent relaxing makes my week better and reduces my stress levels allowing me to function better.
