There is more to life after retirement than just reading paper and dozing in the easy-chair. A pet can make you engaged, but at the same time give you happiness.

Make life after retirement fun filled; not dull

If you think that when you have attained the age of retirement and the kids are away either on their job or after marriage, the future is a real boredom and bleak, you are not alone. This situation is common for many couples who are in the same situation across the world.
You, first of all is justified from your point of view, for such a thought. You need not run along and catch the usual shuttle that commutes you to the office. There aren’t any deadlines to meet and assignments to be submitted. All that you have to do is get up, have a leisurely breakfast, pull the easy-chair and start reading the newspaper. And once that is finished you are free to do anything that you wish, provided your health permits it. But that won’t last. You will be experiencing the humdrum towards the third week, if not at the end of second week. What you can do to avoid this?
You can find a pet that you can adopt, buy or given to you by your friends. It can be a nice Alsatian puppy or a cat from Mr. Smith’s whose cat has given birth to three kittens last week. Studies confirm that retired people are more active and happy who have a pet in their home. Taking them for a walk, feeding them on time, watching their pranks, taking them to the vets, taking part in pet shows and related events all will keep you occupied. But believe me you will not be as tensed you were while you are commuting day-to-day to your office; instead you will love these activities.
However, let me give a word or two of caution to you as well. If you are allergic to the hairs and smell of animals, well these activities are not you. If you are not, then it is fun. Even then you should ensure that they are vaccinated properly so that there will be no health hazards for them and in turn to you at a later stage. Go ahead, get yourself a pet today.
