Originally written in December of 2008. Because Christmas is coming up, I felt the need to write a post on the subject of Santa Claus. I feel that it is wrong for a parent to tell children that Santa Claus comes to the house and gives you all the parents. There are a few reasons why I disagree with this.

First, you tell your kids not to tell lies. If you are telling a kid that Santa Claus is real, you are lying yourself. Another reason is that you make them have so much faith in something that is not real. If you are a Christian, you tell your kids about Jesus and God, which they cannot see. You tell them that in order to believe you have to have faith.

Well, when they find out that Santa is not real, they will start to question if any of the stuff you have given them faith in is real. Parents need to use some common sense and quit lying to their kids. Christmas is not about Santa Claus giving everyone gifts. Christmas is about God giving us all a huge gift in the form of Jesus Christ.

I could not agree more with you my fellow special ed. teacher. Parents ought to set the right example for their children. The idea of "do as I say and not as I do" should not have any room in homes of those who wish to instill sound moral into their children.
