Traveling the Roman Road
The Roman Road is the road every sinner must travel to reach Salvation. The Roman Road is not a physical road but a spiritual road. The Roman Road is actually a series of scriptures taken from the Book of Romans that are used to lead sinners to salvation. Most tract publishers highlight these scriptures in their Book of Romans tracts so they are easily located. The basic scriptures making up the Roman Road are Romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, 10:9-10, and 10:13.

Travel Advisory Signs along the Roman Road

Travelers on the interstate highway systems crisscrossing the United States are used to seeing electronic signs announcing hazardous road conditions, reduced speed, icy conditions, detours ahead, and the like. There are signs along the Roman Road too. There are five of them. The first announces who is in need of salvation. The second explains why they need salvation. The third explains how God provides that salvation. The fourth tells the traveler what he or she needs to do reach salvation. The fifth informs the traveler of the Roman Road what the results of reaching salvation are. If we pull to the side of the road and wait a moment or two, the signs will update and answer the posed question. Let us travel the Roman Road together and see what those answers are.

Who is in Need of Salvation?

Who is in need of salvation? Everyone needs salvation because we are all sinners.
Romans 5:12 (AKJV)
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Romans 3:10-12 (AKJV)
10 as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Romans 3:23 (AKJV)
23 for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Although all these scriptures are highlighted for you in Gospel of John Tracts, it is best that you memorize these scriptures. Memorizing them will add to your authority and confidence when sharing with others.

Why Everyone Needs Salvation

We are all sinners and sin has dire consequences. The penalty for sin is death.
Romans 6:23 (AKJV)
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
God is a just and righteous God, which means that He cannot overlook sin. Someone had to pay that price. Someone had to pay the ultimate price for those sins. Someone had to die.

God Sent His Only Begotten Son to Die for our Sins

God loved us so much that He sacrificed His Own Son for us. Jesus died on the cross so that we could be redeemed, so that we would not have to die in our sins and spend all eternity in hell. God loved us so much that He did not want any of us to perish. He wanted to give every one of us a chance to repent of our sins and receive His free gift of salvation and eternal life.
Romans 5:8 (AKJV)
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

How do we Receive Salvation and Eternal Life?

There is only one way that we can receive salvation and eternal life and that by believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for the propitiation of our sins. It is through faith in Jesus Christ that we receive the free gift of eternal life.
Romans 10:9-10 (AKJV)
that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13 (AKJV)
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

What are the Results of Salvation?

Through salvation our relationship with God the Father is reestablished. Peace between God the Father and His son or daughter has been restored. We are no longer condemned and destined to spend eternity in hell. With our restored relationship with God, we have received the free gift of eternal life.
Romans 5:1 (AKJV)
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Romans 8:1 (AKJV)
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:38-39 (AKJV)
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The signposts guiding a sinner along the Roman Road parallel the steps that I outlined in part one of this series. The only difference is that if you use the Roman Road to guide a sinner to Christ, the scriptures you need to memorize are all from the Book of Romans, which may make spreading the Good News easier for the tyro seed sower.
In part three of this series, I will discuss what is involved in mentoring the babe in Christ.

Thank you Stella. I have stopped trying to figure out the system of awarding stars here on Wikinut. I did get a star from Mark for the first part of this series but not on part two. My star is in heaven.

Have a blessed day Stella.
