This article introduces you to the City of Jerusalem which is the home of God's chosen people in the Bible. Still known as the Holy City, Jerusalem holds a special place as God's city.

The City of Jerusalem

When you read the bible, you will find that many of the events revolve around the city of Jerusalem. This city is known for being the Holy City and its people known to be God's chosen people. Even in the earliest times the chosen have resided in the land known as Jerusalem, in fact the earliest of these being the priest known as Melchizedek, who would claim the area as God's own area. He was the King of Jerusalem (then known as Salem) and he was the priest of the priest of the Most High God as it says in Genesis 14:18.

In Biblical times, Jerusalem was in the center of the South of the land known to the world as Canaan, between both the Jordan and the Mediterranean, on the West of it were mountains and on the South of it was desert. The city itself was built on the ridge of a mountain and it had many valleys on the East, West and South sides. Because it sat between many of the different World Civilizations, it made the land the perfect spot for the City of God.

The City of Jerusalem is where Melchizedek's City stood, where the temple of Solomon was built, where Abraham offered his son in nearby Moriah, and it would later be the land where the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ would be crucified. Jerusalem has stood throughout time as the City protected and loved by God and it is said to be the place that would be rebuilt in the time of Revelations as the New Jerusalem.

In David's time, the city of Jerusalem was officially named the home for the nation of Israel and it would remain so from the past to the present. While Jerusalem stands as God's chosen nation, it is the place where the Son of the Most High God was murdered, where the Messiah lost his life. However, It is also the land where the Lamb of God (Jesus Christ) will stand upon the Mount Zion (which is in Jerusalem) with his people and sing God's song and preach the Good News. Revelation 14:1-6.

Jerusalem is where Jesus died and where he will return to for those who are his people, those who believe on him will be with him. “And I John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the Tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people and God himself shall be with them and be their God.
