For Christians swearing an oath, the logic is not biblical, because they are supposed to tell the truth at all times, to God and society's encumbrance, that the evidence they are about to give will entailed the complete truth.

The Quest for the truth

In some courts of law, before any witnesses are called to testify, they have to place their hand on the bible and swear an oath or affirm that they will tell the whole truth, by doing this, people are attesting to its validity, jurors taking the oath place themselves in a condition to the admission of performing public duty. For the pursuit of truth in a criminal court, swearing on the bible for some people carries immense weight.

And it is a serious offense, if a person is found guilty of perjury, after taking such a serious oath, some individuals have strong religious convictions which prevent them from doing so; however, they will still be required to publicly affirm, in solemn agreement to tell the truth, so the bible is a vital tool that can be used to harness the truth, by witnesses, jurors, and ushers, to bring about conviction or acquittal.

Each person on the jury is obliged to swear to tell the truth on receipt of the Bible, some jurors however, may choose rather to affirm, and in doing so, such an affirmation does not involve or require the use of a physical Bible, but the solemn pledge can be read from a card.

In some jurisdictions, the practice of swearing on the Holy Bible, for the judicial process of finding out the truth, is considered to be outdated and politically incorrect, lessons from the Bible may have some corresponding influence, but truth determines the matter of ethical principle, the oath that is taken on the receipt of the bible may differ from state to state, but essentially it is a Christian oath, pledging to tell the truth in a legal environment.

For those giving witness on the stand, they will have to swear by almighty God, about the evidence that they are about to give, will honestly envelope the truth, based on a literal interpretation of English translations and culture. The choice will be given before entering court, what oath individuals prefer to take, if it is an affirmation then the words used resemble something defining the moment, which will solemnly affirm their selection. Christians should not swear, the Bible forbids oaths which require the renouncing of faith, even in the mission statement quest for truth.

This whole view point has no complete comprehension of exactly what truth is, other than it is relative to the situation and circumstances, aiding the justice system to preserve, protect, and defend the laws of the country.

Jesus himself said to "But I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven for it is God's throne; nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, yea, yea; nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than this cometh of evil. Matthew 5:34-37"

For Christians swearing an oath, the logic is not biblical, because they are supposed to tell the truth at all times, to God and society's encumbrance, that the evidence they are about to give will entailed the complete truth, and it falls under the category how the listeners want to interpret what is said.

So The Bible is more than just a book of religious artifacts, depicting the Jewish nation as the chosen race; it has a greater value in a civilize society, it is held in high esteem, and throughout history has been regarded as the most important and informative piece of literature, readily available library of resourceful information, that can be used in finding out prophetic truths.
