Learn some ideas that could make your retirement happen early. In addition, valuable tips on how to create a better life in retirement are given.

How To Create A Great Retirement

The information given here does not reveal just how to get rich and retire, but how to have a better quality life and manage your money before and after retirement. Whether you are a member of the Baby Boomer generation such as me or just starting out your career, this information is simple yet very valuable. Younger people need to learn from the success of older folks, and the more mature generation should learn technology practiced by the young. Experience teaches good lessons yet new ideas help freshen the mind and fatten the wallet.

Money Saving Ideas

Modern technology has made it possible to save a lot of money with ideas that were not available years ago. Paying bills online eliminates the cost of postage, checks, and car expense to the post office. Electronic mail can save a bundle of money just on Christmas cards, let alone other correspondence.

My father and the generation before him did not have creative financing plans that are available today. No money down housing deals and easy payment plans were not promoted like in today’s world. Low debt or no debt can make retirement happen much easier and cause much less stress.

Good Retirement Planning Eliminates Stress

Those who plan well, create some great hobbies, and adapt to life's changes in retirement can avoid stress and have a happier life.

Money Creating Ideas

Think about the years ahead with your money management. Housing purchases and retirement plans usually bring rewards. I bought a rental property that lost in value but my 15 year loan made this investment worth it. A friend told me he stopped contributing to his 401K plan because the stock market lost him money one year. Look at the long term to create wealth and keep investing. He is still working and I am not.

Diversify and watch trends to create more money. Pensions and annuities were the major retirement instruments of the past. Consider high paying stock dividends and new investment opportunities. A young stock broker may guide you into a fund that did not exist in the past that will do well. Trade down in housing. My aunt worked hard to pay off an expensive house and sold it to buy a small place in a retirement community where she plays with her dog and lives a simple yet happy life.

Profitable Hobbies

When you retire it can be a shock to find happiness if work was the only thing you did for satisfaction. Start some hobbies before you retire that can create some income. I love to travel, and I started a small travel business to make my retirement more rewarding and bring in some cash and travel discounts.

Offer your services to create a profitable hobby. I had two former bosses that love golf. One of them sells golf clubs part time and the other does repairs at a country club during their retirement. Both of them receive money or golfing discounts for these profitable hobbies. Try some of these ideas to create a great retirement.

It is important to have a good quality of life and pleasure more than just a lot of money. My Mother had to move to an assisted living center, and she chose a place that has a courtyard where the residents can talk and as a hobby watch a miniature train operate. To create a good retirement means your mind, body, and spirit should be happy, not just your wallet.

All great ideas, Bill, and they pay off in reducing the stress and worry about money in retirement.

Nevertheless, my own experience in retirement says that, despite all the stress-reducing tactics we take as we age, our ability to deal with it evaporates dramatically. I seem to be stressed out by the things that did not phase me an iota before. Go figure.

I loved the video. It goes to show you that old age doesn't necessarily mean the end of the road. These are great tips for young and old alike. Since I have been retired I have enjoyed doing things that I could never do before. I am by no means rich, but my life is fulfilled.

Love this article, Bill. Well done. I'm enjoying my "semi-retirement." Just can't imagine not having my working hat on anymore. It's a little more daunting, I think, for the single among us. But, I'm taking it a day at a time and loving the new balance of work and play.

I know some who find nothing golden in their golden years as they fight loneliness on a daily basis. The young in Asia have a different outlook than those few generations ago where multi-generational families bonded and found common meaning. Finally, it boils down to attitude but it becomes tougher to change as we age. Thought provoking share, thanks Bill - siva

I married an Asian wife and see the tradition even in America where many of her Asian relatives have their parents move in with them while the kids say they will not do that. My Mom found many friends and is less lonely in assisted living. Cultures mix and we can learn from them all.
