Sometimes you go to a potluck dinner and people are just not gracious. They want to hang onto their own wine or food, ignoring or not knowing, that everything is being brought to share.

Two Glasses of Wine

Written two years ago

Here is another potluck supper story that I just remembered. As you know I went to a potluck on Saturday and it was great. The food was delicious. There was also wine and beer.

Matt got there before me and he was sitting down drinking a glass of wine. When I got there the hostess, told me to go over and get some wine. Well, Matt and I had two glasses of wine the entire evening.

Hey That is my Wine

However, when I went to get my second glass this lady yells out,

"Hey that is my wine I bought it."

I was taking aback I didn't know what to say. She asked me if I brought anything to the potluck and I said yes I bought a food dish. She haughtily said, "Well I brought a food dish and wine."

I didn't know what to say so I said here you want your wine back and I was about to hand her my glass.

Do you Want Your Wine Back?

Then she said did the hostess say you could have the wine? I said yes said the food and the wine is for everyone and then she just walked away.

Despite being shocked, I now wonder how I should behave with her when I see her again and I will see her again at one of our women's group functions.

Update: I saw her several times since then and just ignored her. Finally, I started to talk to her again, life is too short to keep grudges.
