college students are mostly in young adulthood. Experience taught me the necessity of parents to monitor the career progress of their children at this age.

Helping your college children through Education

It is the dream of every parent to get their children through education up to college level and beyond. This comes with the hope that at this age young adults are responsible and interested in their career development. While this could be true to majority of college students at this it, the assumption does not apply to all cases. The main challenge with young adults is the freedom that comes with college admission. In most cases there is nobody remind you to do you assignments or the need to attend classes, coupled with the fact that this is the time in developmental process when there is great need for relating socially. This freedom and the desire to relate can conspire to derail the young person from pursuing their career path and goals. That is the reason why parents should never assume that children in colleges don't require monitoring. Monitoring doe snot mean close supervision as if one is supervising a kindergarten child. It means occasionally inquiring about the progress the young person is making in his or her studies. It means being there for them for moral support . I have met many young people who got completely derailed form their career path because there was nobody to offer guidance and support. I also know many of the young people who have excelled in their studies and careers due to the support their parents. They say that were it not for the support and understanding they got from their parents during their struggles in career development, they could have given up. We all need a cheer leader, more so when the cheer - leader is your parent and your guardian who understands your strengths and weaknesses
