Lately, I’ve been working so hard and this oldies hit song passed through my mind.

the song keeps playing on my mind

It's been a hard day's night. And I've been working like a dog…
It's been a hard day's night. I should be sleeping like a log.

In my mind I can hear my 11 year old nephew singing. Would you believe, a kid prefers to sing the 60’s and 70’s hit songs? And he’s really good.

Speaking of a hard day’s night, as I write the draft of this post last night, I must admit I’m quite exhausted. Starting early in the morning and working till the evening really makes me weary sometimes. That’s why whenever I feel the energy leak, I would rather stop. Then tell myself. “That’s it! you’ve done your part. Leave the rest to God.” Then I would spend the remaining hours of the night with the family chatting or watching T.V. Sometimes I prefer to read a good book.

Somehow it reminds me of the remarkable work habit of Thomas A. Edison. According to his wife, the inventive wizard was truly ‘a nature’s man’. After long hours of labor, he would come home from his laboratory. He would lay down on his couch and fall asleep as naturally as a child. After several hours, he would rise up feeling refreshed and eager to work again. Ahh, if only we’re as genius as Edison then we wouldn’t have to work like a dog : )

Perhaps for now we need to give our best, work fair and work hard. If we do, I am certain we will reap the fruits of our labor and then later be able to sleep like a log.

Let me share a quote by Thomas A. Edison

The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are: Hard work, Stick-to-itiveness, and Common sense. ~Thomas A. Edison
