Guilty or Not Guilty?

How do we deal with feelings of guilt? Why should we have this feeling?

One guilty dog

Can animals feel guilty or sorry? Probably they have a slight feeling but not the same with humans. Animals don't really know whats good from bad, they think everything they do are right. They have no sense of morality, sense of the good and bad of things.

At some point in our lives we do feel guilty when we do minor sins or even a big one. Even if we want to deny our wrong actions, sometimes, the guilty look in our face cannot hide the fact that we have done something wrong.

Guilt feelings

Others say that people who has a lot of this feeling makes a better employee because they are not careless and tend to work or perform better.

I got interested about guilt feelings because of some problems that I encountered this week with one of my client who ask for my work. Last year, I got scammed by a person named Vicky Smith who find me from easyoutsouce then ask me to write about 10 articles for her. She emailed me and very professional with her communication but after I finish the job she never respond again. I emailed her repeatedly and said things to stir her conscience. I tried to search for the site where she published my work and I found it. I was able to claim the work but she never paid, she just waste my time and effort. This 2012, I promised not be scammed again, that was enough for me. Then last week a Filipino writer from Odesk whom I had worked before, contacted me again and ask for work to write BMR articles. After I finish about 10 articles, he did not respond anymore for 5 days. I search over the internet if my articles are live already and I found they are published already. I then emailed him with words that would surely bother his conscience.

I worked so hard for than then he would just scam me? A day after that he paid me and even gave a bonus. He said he was not a scammer, After that, I realized that this person has a conscience after all.

No conscience

Psychopaths are people without conscience, however there are people also who are perfectly sane but still has weak conscience to bother them.

Sometimes too, I wish I lessen my guilt feelings and do what other people do for self-gratification. I would not mind who would get hurt, I would not mind about their feelings and I would not mind if I disturbed them as long as I get what I want, I will be fine.

But I guess, my conscience always wins and I prefer to do what is right than to lose my peace of mind.

Having no conscience or to numb my conscience is not something cool for me and hard for me to do. There are instances that a person would commit suicide because they cannot bear the guilt anymore.

However, extreme guilt feelings should also be checked. We must also know to forgive ourselves if we have made some mistakes unintentionally, as people are not always perfect. Guilty feeling is indeed an interesting emotion. Being guilty makes us feel sad and sorry about our mistakes.

Still small voice

I said, “I will confess
my transgressions to the LORD.”
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.-- by King David, Book of Psalm

I believe the teaching that our conscience is given to us by God. For me, its like the still small voice, they say the one that can sense the spirit of God. If you have strong feeling of guilt and knows to repent for your sins then you are really listening to God in your heart.

However, if you refuse to admit that you did something wrong, then God's spirit will depart from you and you would just listen to your own heart. God gives us a heavy heart sometimes to make us feel sorry for our mistakes.

impeachment trials

Now the current news headlines is the impeachment hearings of chief Justice Renato Corona. The administration would accused him of this and that and would ask him to surrender his SALN or the sworn statement of asset, liabilities and net worth. This case is in relation to the coming court hearings for Pres. Gloria. They believe the chief justice would affect the case as they are closed allies.

I guess, many of us don't need the trial court anymore as we have a built in justice system in our mind and that is our conscience. The only difference is the guilt feelings. I am not sure who is telling the truth-only the person knows the real answer.
There is no need for defense teams if we are willing to admit our mistakes.

Only us can know the truth, and if we have a clean conscience, there is nothing to fear with any impeachment hearings or any accusations pointed on us as long as we know we are not doing anything bad to anybody.

Well as far as animals go I can guarantee you they feel guilty. Prancer was a puppy when this happened. He gnawed my dads' very expensive shoes and left little scratch marks on the leather and my dad got very angry with him and said bad dog. He never touched another pair of shoes again. He was loosing his milk teeth and kept the teeth behind too. He chewed the side of the bed too and got a yell and was asked to sleep in the bathroom. He sat there crying until we explained why it was done. He never did that again.
With regard to scamming cheats, well you have learnt your lesson out there, get a manager and an agent and the will help you with getting your work done. Also go and check the service rating before sending stuff for publication.
With regard to God, yes I do believe God forgives but he looks more at the heart and the reason why things are done rather than the action alone. It is similar to what is done in court except you answer questions to the spiritual council at the day of reckoning. I firmly believe that although I don't follow any specific religion as religion brings pain and suffering. But I do like to read all religious books.
With regard to people without conscience, well, it is the do as you would be done by principle as they reap what they sow and it will come back to bite them in the back.
For a person to feel guilt means that the conscience is working and that is why there is remorse in the heart. But if it is something that was done by fooling the person, it is the other person who fooled them who pays the price not the person who entered into the pact with them.
Suicide is not a question of guilt it is more their inability to cope with the current surrounding and situation wherein they are cowards aka Chicken who cannot face up to the adversity that is put forth in front of them. I personally prefer taking an adversity head on as that is what life is, a learning experience.
It depends what the guilt is all about, if it is about strangling and killing a person, beating a person to death, or selling a best friend to the worst enemy for a game of sex (like what happened with Shingie James Hukuimwe and Anisha Achankunju aka myself who sold my lifeworks on Triond to get laid, illicitly, might I add) etc. well they have all the reason to be guilty and trust I have no sympathy for the lot of them but do feel sorry for their families as they have to bear the brunt of their demise or guilt induced madness such as drinking, smoking, drugs etc. because of their mindless behaviour.

Conscience is something which heals itself to cope with a situation based on your outlook to life. If you are the type to keep picking on the past there is no chance of a future. So the best thing to do is to leave the person out there and walk away as it does get irritating to the person listening to the nag over and again about the same thing like a broken gramophone record. Not my cup of tea and honest just as well my husband left as he was one of them too.
With regard to impeachment, well it is simple, you have to get 2/3 majority in parliament to be able to impeach a president by ballot and even one vote of difference does mean that the person stays in power and that is what happened with Bill Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky case. He survived impeachment only because he had support from his REAL wife and daughter.
None the less, everything boils down to proof and the greatest proof is in the pudding and that is what makes all the difference.
If the President has done wrong, well the Vote of No Confidence will dissolve the parliament instantly too and in the case of Presidency, impeachment. Its dependent on the constitution of the land in which they are leaders too.

BTW, with regard to the wine glasses, as they say wine goes in the truth comes out, get them drunk, they'll talk and cry at the same time and even strip everyone down to the bone too as they can really fight to defend their guilt.
Sorry for the lamenting but thought it best to give my opinion on this as I was waiting for someone to say this...

Thanks...I'm open to all views, this is just my opinion. that is true, guilt means that the conscience is working...I relate my experience with the current news....not all suicides are due to guilt feelings but there are some like what Judas did to Jesus..he was so guilty of his actions.
