Guidance and consistent approach

Some times guidance is a team work. In many families every adult uses different methods to guid their children. This will puzzle the children. They find it to difficult to identify which is correct.

The problem

It was dinner time. All were siting at the dining table. Mother was serving meals. Six year old Kevin was so hungry. At the same time he wanted to watch the TV also. Kevin was ready to take the plate and go to the TV room. "No," told the mother, "You should sit with us. Having dinner together is our family rule". "Mummy, please, please let me go," begged Kevin. "No, if you bring the plate to the TV room, the room will get dirty. So please sit here, " told the mother again. "then I don't want your dinner. I am not hungry, " Kevin started to cry laudly.

Kevin's father, who was tired, hungry and willing to have rest, told, "Okey. Take your plate and go to the TV room. But only today". "Thank you Daddy," Kevin jumped into the TV room with his plate after giving a thick and fat kiss to his father.

Everybody can say that Kevin's father wrong was. Both of the parents should use a consistent approach to guid their child. Here the father and mother are approaching their child in different ways. So it will be difficult for the child to understand which is correct and which is wrong.

The solution

The parents or any adult in the house:
1. Must speak together and come to a conclution: how to approach the child in different situation.
2. After coming to a conclution they can declare it as a family rule.
3. Then the adult must respect and obey the rule.

The child will also surely respect and obey the family rule.
