Love Stories

Love stories set in India as seen from the perspective of an American or British author is a lot different from love stories set from the perspective of an Indian. Indian literature has always been rich in love be it for another person, people, culture, for nature, or for the country or anything apart from these common themes.

Romance has been a common theme in the Indian classics as well as in post-modern Indian writing. Tagore's contribution to Indian classic does not end with 'Ghare Baire', 'Noukadubi' and 'Chokher Bali' as many people think it does. There are way more famous Indian love stories and romances. Look into Tagore's famous works and you will wonder how one man could deliver so many masterpieces that a common person cannot even finish reading all his life!

Of course Tagore is not the only legend in Indian literature. Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay, Ashapoorna Devi, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Khushwant Singh, Ruskin Bond, Arundhati Roy, Jhumpa Lahiri, and R.K. Narayan are just some of the veteran and new age authors who got critical appreciation and various honors from abroad.

The idea of famous Indian love stories has changed quite a lot over the past few years as Chetan Bhagat brought in a complete revolution in the way people saw love or romance in India. He brought out the true essence of the Indian youth and also got negative reviews from various sources about his style of writing but ultimately, it is this simple, colloquial style that makes his characters so real. He brought in the era of real stories and real characters in fiction with 'Five Point Someone', 'One night at the Call Center', 'Three Mistakes of my Life' 'Two States', and 'Revolution 2020'. These books became a rage among teenagers and the youth as well as adults who like to keep up with the ways of the present generation or like to be original themselves. This type of short romantic novellas became the way for many authors like Erich Sehgal and Durjoy Dutta.

The good thing about these romantic books is that the colloquial language, simple approach and short length of the stories make non readers give a try and once they like these books, they get hooked to reading.

Yes, there are debates regarding the 'quality' of writing or content today's famous Indian love stories set forth but who is anybody to determine what 'good literature' should mean?

For some it could be grandiloquent language and a classic setting but for many it could be our daily conversations, the raw characters, the true society and the slums! The point is that the element of love and romance remains consistent throughout the history of Indian literature, from the times of Tagore to the times of Bhagat.

Good observation on Modern Indian writers. Currently, I am reading a collection of short stories by Ruskin Bond, named "The Himalayan Tales".

Me and my husband have been trying for a baby for over three years now, We were going to a fertility clinic for about 8 months before somebody told us to contact this spell caster who is so powerful, We contacted him at this email arewaspecialistttemple@gmail.com I copied the email and I sent him a mail he replied me and I told me all my sorrow is over, but after three years of trying we were at a point where we were willing to try anything. And I'm glad we came to Dr Dahiru, Because his pregnancy spell cast put us at ease, and I honestly believe him, and his gods really helped us as well, I am thankful for all he has done, he then told me that I should wipe my tears with such comforting words he told me to buy some items that his going to use to cast the pregnancy spell I did and he made the spell for me and told me when next I meet with my husband I we conceive,at first I thought it was a scam but I just followed my inner mind and I sent the money for him to buy all the items after some months I went to check with my doctor and I was 4weeks pregnant, thanks to Dr Dahiru spell temple,I want to use this medium to tell everyone having similar problem. contact him via email: arewaspecialistttemple@gmail.com if you are trying to get a baby or want your lover back. he has powers to do it, he has done mine,
