Eternally Greatful

A short poem I've written to express my love and appreciation to a friend I've had most of my life.

So Thankful

You've heard it all before, my desperate groanings, my soul-deep misery
Yet you patiently listen, offering me a safe place, one where no judgement dwells.
And I am eternally greatful.

When I'm in the midst of the turmoil that is my life,
I try to remember that you are never far away, never unreachable,
Always waiting with open arms, and a heart full of love and compassion.
And I am eternally greatful.

Sometimes all I need is to know you are present,
No words need to be uttered.
You understand my need for silence, stillness.
You have felt the heaviness of my burdened heart, witnessed my crushed dreams, my lost loves,
Throwing me a life-line over and over again,
Assuring me that a light shines brightly at the end of the long, dark tunnels,
Where you will always stand, waiting for me,
And once again...
I am eternally greatful that you are my friend.

A friend in need is a friend indeed! Heartfelt feelings, Wendy. Just a note, if I may - it should be grateful - siva

Dear Wendy . I liked your words , I too believe in being eternally grateful first , to the Lord and then to all the good friends He has given.
God bless you
Stella ><

Thank you Siva for your comment, and in regard to my spelling of greatful, I did spell it the way you suggested first, but then the commentator said I should change it to what I have now, so I am a bit confused as to which way is correct. I will have to investigate.

I see Siva's comment on the spelling and it had caught my eye also, but I can also see what the moderator could have been suggesting, that these thoughts are of 'great' dimension in their eternalism. They are very emotive words whichever way the description is spelled.

Yes I agree Penny. I was a bit confused after the Moderator's suggestion as then I wondered if it was a British/American thing, and being Canadian, we tend to follow the British versions.
