Don't Forfeit Your Peace To Win An Argument

The Peace of God is readily available to those who accept His Son as their Savior. Others may also be able to tap into it for short periods from time to time. Though rather elusive, peace is not extremely difficult to obtain and maintain.

What Does Forfeit Mean?

The word forfeit speaks to

losing or being deprived of
~ property or a right or privilege ~ as a penalty for

wrongdoing.

The Free Gift Of Peace

As recorded in the Gospel of John ~ in Our Creator's Wonderful Book of Teaching on Life and Love ~ Jesus said:

These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.

So then He admonishes: Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid

Stipulations For Maintaining Peace In Your Heart

Be A Giver ~ Not A Taker

Be quick to repent and quick to forgive

Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness

Let everyone know and perceive and recognize your
unselfishness

Don't Hold Grudges

God's Peace Transcends Understanding

This may give some people pause and cause many others to say that

you're just being religious ~ but ~ Do not be anxious about anything, but in every

situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Then ~ do not surprised that ~ The peace of God ~ which transcends all understanding

~ will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.

The background information for this segment ~ can be found in ~

Our Creator's Wonderful Book of Teaching on Life and Love

in the Fourth Chapter of the New Testament Book of Philippians.

You make good points.
Would also like to add that when trying to win an argument it is very important to focus on the way one says something. The tone of the voice, the way one looks at someone reveals one's true intentions and often comes to contradiction with what he says.

Thanks ~ Mary ~ for your comments and the additional insight you shared ~ adding value to my post. I appreciate that.

As you indicated ~ body language in an argument can be a give away as to a person's true intentions.

Blessings to you.

Thanks Helen. Doing what is right - do unto others as you would have them do unto you is a guide - is the way and then accepting the consequences in all humility as our actions count whatever others think of them.

I readily forgive as why should I carry the burden of the hurt leave alone thoughts of revenge. But I tend to remember them as they replay subconsciously - siva

Yes ~ I agree with you on that ~ Siva. I believe that what is often referred to as the golden rule is the best rule to follow in any situation. So much heartache and headache would be avoided if we ~ as a society ~ would simply follow that line of thinking.

Thanks for your continued support and encouragement.

Blessings.

I am so grateful that the dear Saviour promises to leave us HIS peace in the midst of our troubled times dear Helen.
How anyone lives without such peace to comfort and reassure them of His help and nearness in these days of turmoil , I cannot imagine now .
May the peace of God be with you every day of your life .
Many blessings ..in Him

Thanks ~ Stella ~ for your encouraging words of support.

It's very sad that the very thing that people need to bring them out of anxiety, extreme fear, despondency and perhaps even depression ~ is what they vehemently object to and refuse to accept.

Thankfully ~ we have a compassionate Lord and Savior ~ who waits for them to open their hearts and welcome Him in.

Blessings to you also ~ Stella ~ with an abundance of peace.

Thank you for your article. In my journey, I have found that peace and forgiveness often go hand in hand. Forgiveness of others and forgiveness of one's self.

"peace is not extremely difficult to obtain and maintain."

Perhaps this is only true though of those who keep their hands in God's hand, and their hearts open to giving and receiving his love.

Thanks Helen.

Exactly ~ Spirited. There's a catchy phrase that I have often heard ~ which says ~ No Jesus ~ No Peace. Know Jesus ~ Know Peace. It is not meant be a statement of exclusivity, but often is received as such.

Blessings to you ~ my friend.
