The earthquake in Nepal killed thousand and caused sufferings to millions of people. Whenever there is a natural calamity that causes great devastation, some people shout that they are signs of the end of the world. Natural calamities are not to threaten humanity, but they are calls of solidarity.

The warning of scriptures

It was a tragic earthquake that killed more than 3,000 people and its aftershocks have turned have turned Nepal, the beauty of Himalayas, into a scene of devastation. About 10+ years ago Tsunami swallowed millions of people around the shores of Indian Ocean. Does it mean that the trumpet for the end of the world is blowing? Is there any significant message to humanity by these tragic earthquakes and floods?

The warning of scriptures

Jesus warns about the end of the world when there are certain signs in nature. He says, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven." He says that there will be natural calamities as well as man-made devastations. Nowadays, the humans are threatened more about these natural calamities, terrorist attacks and wars inside and between countries.

Do the cyber wars blow the trumpet of the end?

Think about the cyber wars. The new technologies and revolutionized warfare can pulverize the earth in no time! Wars of chariots, gunpowder, aircraft or radar or even nuclear fission have become powerless when you compare them to cyber attacks! Do they mean that the end is near and the trumpet is blowing?

End of the world – trumpet blowing?

Several signs of what Jesus mentioned two thousand years ago are taking place. Some people interpret these signs that the end of the world has come and it is time for the Second Coming of Jesus.

Saint Paul clearly says in his letter to the Thessalonians that the Lord himself would come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ would rise first. He does not threaten the people but asks them to be ready.

Trumpet blow signs are for more shari

The signs of end are not to threaten – but to be more faithful

Jesus never threatens humanity. God’s words are not to create fear in any way. It is to make use of the signs a better way of understanding life and live more faithfully. It is not to fear about the second coming of Jesus. But it is to rejoice that humans are going to enjoy the eternal bliss along with Jesus Christ.

Trumpet blow signs are for more sharing!

The natural calamities call the whole humanity for more sharing of love. They should bring the whole humanity towards a feeling of universal brotherhood and solidarity.

I feel the end of the world will happen more due to our accumulating nuclear warheads and then using them! Countries feed their friends with these "toys"; now it is guns and knives but soon it will be the turn of these "toys" that could prove irresistible when pushed into a corner.

I do not think we prove worthy to be saved but other species should be, without us messing around with them! Thanks dear VP for a thought provoking post - siva

The world is quite aware where these dangerous toys will end. But Ego and selfishness... Thanks Siva.

And the few that might survive won't find people in whose suffering they will be able to satisfy their ego and selfishness!

Yes, there is every indication of the 'trumpet-blow' meaning end of world in the Nepal earthquake. One must prepare in advance to be ready.

That notion is nonsense! What happened in Nepal is simply another example of what has been happening for millions of years as the the Indian plate is subducted beneath the Euro-Asian plate and the Himalayas are pushed up as a result.

It would not surprise me to learn that Mount Everest is now slightly higher than it was a couple of weeks ago.

What I have meant in the article is to awaken the conscience of coming together and share the disaster as a human family. I think that is what Jesus would have taught us.

True, these occasions are always a test of the world's readiness to help the victims of disaster. However, the response is often too slow - Nepal is complaining today that not a penny of promised aid from outside nations has so far reached Nepal's coffers.

Well, that's what it says in Revelation about the end times. I certainly take all these things as a sign.

I wonder how much the author of the Book of Revelation knew about plate tectonics?
