Can't Never Could

Nothing is too difficult for God, in fact Luke 1:37 says “For nothing is impossible with God.” So why do we whine all the time about what we cannot do?

There ain't no can'ts!

Then the people of Judah began to complain that the workers were becoming tired. There was so much rubble to be moved that we could never get it done by ourselves. Meanwhile, our enemies were saying, “Before they know what’s happening , we will swoop down on them and kill them and end their work. Nehemiah 4:10-11

Some Christians are so afraid of failure that they become reserved, overly cautious, and uninvolved in life. They follow a policy of guarded living, holding back time, talents, and treasure from God’s service. Their motto is: To keep from failing – don’t try! On the other hand, those who are willing to make mistakes and risk failure are the ones who ultimately achieve great things. Instead of being filled with fear, they go forward in faith. Problems are challenges. While they may not all be solved, these courageous people would rather live with that reality than have a clean record of no failures and no accomplishments. Benjamin Franklin said one time, “The man who does things makes many mistakes, but he never makes the biggest mistake of all – doing nothing.”

In Rocky II, Rocky is preparing for his big rematch with Apollo Creed, the heavy weight champion of the world. As he and his trainer, Mickey, watch film from the first fight, Mickey lets him in on a little secret: In order to win, Rocky was going to have to fight Creed as a right handed fighter.

Rocky responded by saying, “Com’ on, Mick. I can’t do that!” I love Mickey’s reply, “What’s can’t!? There ain’t no can’ts!”

In the Christian life there “ain’t no can’ts!” Nothing is too difficult for God, in fact Luke 1:37 says “For nothing is impossible with God.” So why do we whine all the time about what we cannot do?

It’s a lack of faith, that’s what it is. We don’t really believe God can do it, or sometimes we use that lack of faith as an excuse to get out of doing something that we would rally rather not do. If we say that we can’t do it, then we don’t have to be bothered trying.

I wonder how many blessings we have missed out on in live because we have neglected to have a “can do” type of attitude? I wonder how many opportunities for growth and success have just passed us by because we were afraid to take a little bit of risk, or go out on a limb even a few feet?

God is in the business of using His people to accomplish extraordinary tasks. God often shapes people with personality characteristics, experiences, and training that prepare them for his purpose and usually the people have no idea what God has in store for them.

What does God have in store for you today? Just what is it that God “Can-Do” when we say that we cannot? When you start feeling this week like you cannot accomplish what God has set before you, just remember that can’t never could, and won’t never will.

Very well said, God has created tasks and we just have to find our ways to do it!

Thank you for this article I have been a smoker for years and often wanted to stop but found that the urges were controlling me and I decided put it in the hands of the almighty thank goodness for this. I have stopped for about a month now and I know there is no turning back at this point. I owe it all to god.
