We can either be born once and die twice, or be born twice and die once; but not both. This a Spiritual part of life which declares where one will spend eternity.

Born Once, Die Twice. Born twice, Die Once.

I know what your first thought was: “What?” Of course I'm going to explain myself. After all, who wants to die two times? Isn't once bad enough?
When we talk about salvation and how to obtain it, there are so many ways to explain it. Some are easier to understand others as well. Jesus confounds Nicodemus when He tells him he must “born again.” The poor guy had the same question you did just now. “What? How is that even possible?”
John chapter three, verse one through verse six: “Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; this man came to Jesus by night, and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter into his mother's womb and be born, can he? Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless be born of water (italics mine), and the Spirit, (Italics mine), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
So to put it simply, there is a physical birth which we all experience. Then there is a Spiritual birth as well if we want to go to Heaven. Most of us are familiar with the term “born again Christian,” now you know where it comes from. So there is a second birth told about by Jesus himself, the part of “Born Twice.” Those that are born twice are “born again” and can now enter into the kingdom of God.
But what about the second death? That sounds a bit scary doesn't it? Well, quite frankly it's more scary than that. We're talking about hell, or Hades if you will. Avoiding it is a really good thing, because it lasts for eternity. I'll get into hell and Hades a little bit further into this. But let's continue with the second death part first.
Let me take moment and let you know that all this information is in your Bible. I would encourage to go to these Scripture references and read them in their entirety yourself. Don't take my word for it. The context in which they were meant to be read is right here. But sometimes knowing where Jesus was in the John chapter 4 might help you to understand this issue better. Or that even the Pharisees knew Jesus had to be from God because of all of the things He had been doing. The Pharisees knew that healing someone and raising people from the dead wasn't a normal thing. And now we're going to book of Revelation. Knowing that John was exiled on the island Patmos when Jesus came to him and told him to tell us all of this stuff, is important for the reader to know. So please, seriously, go read this stuff on your own. It will make so much more sense than taking my word for it.
Revelation 21:8 tells us, “But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
That's not the only reference to the second death. Now let me show you what “Judgment day looks like. Everyone of us is going to stand in this place, and this description has the details of what it is. Revelation 20:12-14. “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things that were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
And there is the reference to the “Second death.” This is a bit more descriptive than the reference to the second birth. This one is a bit more scary as well. Please understand that I am not trying to scare someone into accepting Christ as their Savior. Only to pint out that Heaven can be our eternal home with only a small amount of knowledge and some effort. It does take some really big effort to turn away from sin sometimes. Especially when it's something that we really enjoyed before we became a Christian. Of course living in modern day Babylon doesn't help out at all. All of the sexual immorality that is flashed in front of use while we watch a sporting event, or even television in general, makes it difficult for some at times. And of course there are some many things in today's society that weren't around even a couple of hundred years ago. The list is endless, yet sin is sin and walking away from it can be difficult. Our Spiritual being must be exercised as much as our body, in order to keep it on shape. Daily Bible and prayer are an absolute must in order to be successful in our Christian lifestyle.
Now about that hell and Hades stuff. The words “hell” and “Hades” are used synonymously in our society. But in reality, they have different descriptions. “Hell” is actually the grave. We die, we get buried or entombed. It's basically our death.
Hades on the other hand is what we refer to as “Hell.” The actual “lake of fire” is Hades. Some of the people who knock on your door will be sure to point this out during their visit. So when John is telling us about the end of the judgment and he uses the phrase “death and Hades,” this is what he means. I hope that helps you understand this issue a little bit better.
In wrapping this article up. You can be born once and die twice. Or you can be born twice and die two times. I'm hoping everyone who reads this article leaves being born twice.
Simply say this prayer as you read it: “Father I know I'm a sinner now. Please forgive me of all of my sins. Help me to not sin anymore. Please put people in my life that can teach me Your ways and help my life be an example of what You teach us, and how to live. Thank Father. Amen.
If you prayed that prayer, the best you can do now is find a good Bible teaching church and get involved in it. Make some good friends and enjoy your new life.
Now we get to go to Heaven together. It's going to be more fun that you can imagine.
