Are You An Impulsive Shopper?

I am very strict in preparing my shopping list ! I always instruct my wife and son to stick to the shopping list while on the shopping spree, but things never work for us...please read why it is so!!

I love Shopping!

I love shopping! People often say that it is bit strange to see a man interested in shopping! But I don't find anything wrong in that! I stay on a Stud farm which is about 50 kilometers away from the nearby City!

So we go for our shopping at least once a month! I prefer to shop at some good Mall or Departmental store to have some nice time whiles hopping!

It’s An Outing For Us!

Normally, my family comprising my wife, one unmarried grown up son and myself, all together go for shopping. In fact since we are going to this far and going after a long gap we see to it that we watch a movie and have our food also outside only!

Thus you can say it is an outing for us in the name of shopping!

Our Well Thought And Planned Shopping List!

My wife prepares her shopping list, my son includes his requirement and finally I add any thing forgotten in that list and as usual I strictly instruct her to think twice and not to add anything extra at the eleventh hour while shopping!

Like typical Indian Husband I instruct her to strictly stick to the list!

Rules Are Meant For Breaking!

But funniest part is, at the end of shopping we end up with almost double the number of items we have in our list! I must admit that I am responsible for that to a maximum extent! In fact I am an impulsive buyer!

I can't resist my temptation, if I find anything of my liking in a Mall and without thinking twice I immediately pick it up and drop in my shopping trolley breaking all the rules I made earlier for the shopping!

Yes This Is My Weakness!

Many a times I know that a particular thing may not be useful for me immediately still I buy it!

This is my weakness and I have collected many a things because of this habit of mine at my place which are of no use to us presently, but I like their presence at my place with a hope that I can use them some time later!

How About You, Are You The One Like Me?

Now, I would like to know, there must be many others like me, who must be doing similar type of shopping! Are you one of them?

Are you an impulsive buyer?

Please respond! Your views will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

PS: The Pictures are Taken from Google Search! My sincere Thanks to them!

Rao A wonderful article Really enjoyed the read. I have to say your shopping trip sounds lot like ours always mean to keep to a list but never do. My way out is to add to the list while were at the store when I see something I like. That way when we get home I can point to the list and let them know it was on the list.
Best Wishes
Steve

Seemingly you are in a disease, called 'SAD' - Shopping Addiction Disorder. I feel so funny that what for for you to make a list? By the way, thanks for sharing.

Not really dear Zhi Han Chew! I know what SAD is! It is just the venting the stress because of boredom I face on he farm, as I need to work 24 x 7! No weekly Offs and holidays for me!Though I am very passionate about my profession all the day with the horses, living amidst horses every day without any social contact makes you sick some times! So I enjoy myself in such activities just for a change! Thanks a lot for responding!

I am a list person, I have checked all the stores advertisement and then make my grocery and essential lists before we head out the door. I also add 20 dollars for each my food list and also my other things like clothes, sock, shoes, what have you. Then I stay in my budget and I get to get a few extra things. I also keep track of the amount I am spending as I go through the stores and aisle, so as not to sway, it works pretty good. I do though impulse buy at times, especially when it comes to our grandson, this Gammy just can not help her self but, I am a very smart shopper. I learned this through the decades (raising kids) having just so much money and having to feed the family and all those others that came through my door. Before you put something in your basket, ask yourself... Am I going to wear it, do I really need another shirt/shoes/pants and the same with shopping for food. Nice read. Thank you for sharing.:)

Lovely response dear Denise! I admired it! The problem is I don't purchase anything for my personal use! I go in for some how piece, electronic item or some gizmos etc. As I have quoted in my above response this is perhaps one of the way I get rid of my stress! Thanks a lot again for such a wonderful response!

Nice share Rao, I am not an impulsive buyer but occasionally I do buy those that are under "sale" - too good a bargain to let go - siva

Yes, some times we feel relaxed after the shoping! I could have a small beautiful library of my own because of this! Thanks!

If it is your fault, then you should not instruct your family members so strictly to add items in the list and not go beyond it.
I am not such a planning person, but before buying anything new I would think many times as it is worth for me.

Each and every family has a different shopping style.I shop either by single or some times I shop being accompanied by spouse. When she accompanies, it is she who purchase and it is my duty to see that does not have a over dosage in shopping.Another purpose is that I have to move the perambulator or just carry the baggage until she completes her purchase. In the process I have to run here and there.

Is this Select City Walk in Saket? Even I am an impulsive shopper at times, and at big departmental stores like Spencer's and Big Bazaar, I tend to buy more than is required.
