You think you can get away with hurting me, think again, I have a higher power standing in for me. Yes, I feel that I should take revenge on what you have done to me, but hey, I have a higher power to go to that will change my state of mind and yours too.

Day 1 of my Anger Management

This year I have decided to address a number of personal issues that I find I am having difficulty in dealing with. My number one problem of course is "Anger" issues. I have the tendency to explode and really "lose it".
Being seen as a Christian and on top of everything else professing it makes my life even more difficult. I find the people constantly baiting me are the one's closest to me. They seem to know when I am feeling down and move in for the kill so to speak.

This keeps me on my toes and makes me aggressive and constantly waiting to see where I should lash out.

Now some scripture to help me get back on track; Proverbs 20: 3 says 'It is honorable to back off from a fight, but fools jump right in.' On actually reading this verse it made me sit up and notice; 'fools jump right in.' I am no fool but it seems I have been acting foolishly. Allowing people to manipulate me and get my temper up there.

My plan of action according to Proverbs 19:11 'Insightful people restrain their anger; their glory is to ignore an offense.' Number one for me would be identify the perpetrator - yes I know the person. Number two for me would be watch what they are trying to say. Number three for me would be ignore them. They don't have the power to make me feel inadequate and make me angry.

My follow-up plan of action is according to Proverbs 17: 4 'The start of a quarrel is like letting out water, so drop the dispute before it breaks out.' I think here I would have to be more mindful and listen and become more watchful and not reactive. Being reactive is one of my most dangerous problems which doesn't give me room to move.

My place in the group is important to me and other but I have come to realize that these others feel threaded by me and are pull out all the stops to make me feel terrible and retract. When I retreat they take over and think they have won.

My other and most significant plan; Romans 12:19 'Don't try to get revenge for yourselves, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath. It is written, Revenge belongs to me; I will pay it back, says the Lord.'

So yes, you think you are winning, I am praying and asking the Lord God to step in and help me against you.
