This is the story of when I found my birth family after 40 years of being apart from them.

Here's the Story of an Adopted Lady....Part 1

I was adopted by my parents on my first birthday. This was back in 1973, when things weren't as easy as it is today. I don't think that there were any open adoptions and there certainly wasn't any Internet.

I had thought about looking for my birth family off and on since I turned 18. My parents always said that they would support my search if I ever wanted to find them. But although I put my information on a couple of the adoption websites and signed up for alerts, I didn't get any bites.

August 31, 2013

August 31, 2013 was a day that changed my life forever. Out of the blue, I got a message from someone named Faith on one of the reunion sites. I had put all of my information out there, including that I was adopted on my first birthday, my weight, etc. She sent me a message and said, "I think we should talk."

We were up until 1am Skyping and talking. It turns out she was my younger sister. Not only that, but I had FIVE older brothers. I grew up with one younger brother. I don't think either of us got much sleep that night. Not only had I found my birth family but I had 6 siblings!

To be Continued...

This is just part one of my series about my adoption journey. I hope that you will keep up to date with my story and I'll be back with some more stories about my journey.
