All that you seek to be or hope to attain can become so if you are ready to give God free course in your life. St. John 14:14 says, “if ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it”. In John 16:24, Jesus challenges us to take Him at His word. “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” These promises make it clear that God is ready to bless, if you are ready to receive.

Introduction

As I talk to God’s people, the excitement of people seeking God’s face is evident. Every time I speak to someone seeking to truly walk in righteousness, I hear a sense of awe at what God has done in their lives thus far and a sense of wonder and expectation at what He is about to do next! This is truly the time to begin to conceptualize what has gone right in your life, what has gone wrong, and what needs to be your next step on your destiny journey as you to step out on faith to make your dreams your reality.

All that you seek to be or hope to attain can become so if you are ready to give God free course in your life. St. John 14:14 says, “if ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it”. In John 16:24, Jesus challenges us to take Him at His word. “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” He is encouraging His children to step out on faith. Until now you have not asked – Now is the time. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete as long as you are abiding in God’s Word.

The Jabez Example

I’m sure you’ve read or at least heard of the Prayer of Jabez. Some seem to think that Jabez prayed a selfish prayer and, because God honored it, it’s okay to be selfish in prayer. I thoroughly disagree with that assertion. I do agree, however, that his prayer is one of the most powerful in the Bible.

Jabez asked God to “bless me, indeed, enlarge my territory, that your hand be with me, keep me from evil.” It’s those four requests that seem to captivate people the most about Jabez’s petition. But it’s the END of the prayer that I feel makes his prayer so powerful and is the basis of why Jabez prayed the prayer and why God honored it. He asked God to bless him so abundantly for one purpose: “that I may not cause pain”.

Jabez's name meant 'sorrow', a legacy his mother gave him because of what she had been through. In his wise prayer, he did not want his name legacy to be what he passed on to others. Jabez wanted to be blessed, so that he would not be a hindrance or a source of pain. He wanted to be blessed, so that he could be a blessing. Why do you want to be blessed? Are your motives to help others or just to help yourself?

Check Your Motives

When we petition God for our hearts desire without selfish motives and we submit our selves totally to His will, as Jabez did, we can “ask anything in Jesus name” and God will grant our petition. He will give us all that we ask, if we are obedient and our hearts are righteous. The key is to seek first the kingdom of God and He will add all other things that are our hearts desire. He wants us to prosper – to have our hearts desire; but He will only fulfill the promise if and when we are willing to submit totally to His will.

As you ponder the age old question of why you are here and what God expects of you while you are here, meditate on this...You are the navigator of your seasons of life. If you are ready to experience the glorious things that God has for you, you have to be willing to make the sacrifices He asks. If you want to live in the Jabez season – a time of overflow – only you can make the decision that you will submit yourself as a vessel to be used of God. You must determine in your spirit to stand for righteousness regardless of the roadblocks, setbacks, or naysayers that you encounter. Resist the enemy’s tricks to lead you astray, to make you think thoughts or do things that keep you out of God’s will.

Are You Positioned?

So, what does it mean to 'be positioned'? You must be steadfast in living a life grounded in the Word, communing daily with God to seek His directions for your life. Too often, we are so consumed with people and what they think, we make people our God. God is a jealous God and He is not having it!

If you want to walk in overflow and abundance as promised by God, you have to show God that you honor His Word and the sacrifice of His Son. Daily you must put on the whole armor of God, seeking His will for your life. That means, you must seek to live a life of righteousness.

The whole armor means no perpetrating. You can’t say you are a child of God, then live like Satan’s spawn. God calls for His children to live a life free of sin, negativity, or drama…free of envy, jealousy, hate, self centeredness, show boating, or self imposed sorrow. Make a committed promise to God that you will live your life solely to please Him and watch Him show up in awesome ways in your life!

When you become totally sold out to God and completely accepting of His will for your life, you put yourself in the perfect position to be blessed. You have the power through Christ that abides in you to speak into existence the life that you seek. It takes a sold out determined mind, a righteous walk, strong faith, and a humble heart. Now is the season for you to claim all that is rightfully yours. Take a bold step -- claim all that you know you should posses in your life! Position yourself for the blessings that God wants to pour out on you. Stand up and tell Satan whatever strongholds he’s placed in your life are no more.

You are a child of the MOST HIGH KING!! Claim you rightful place as an heir to His promise! He’s just waiting for you to take a stand!!
