Preparing your baby for his/her first photo-shoot is something really special. Those memories captured on camera for the first time are priceless....

Some parents give their best to make these photos really interesting and cute. You can always choose to do this spontaneously, but planning this to the detail gives it a special charm. The process can be really fun - dressing up your baby and trying out different outfits until you get tired. If you lack some creativity at this moment, don’t worry, here are 4 great ideas on how to dress up your little one for a photo session.

Casual baby clothes are cute enough

People who like to keep it simple could take any dressing combination they already bought for their babies. Light clothes are recommended as they will make the whole atmosphere even more innocent. Add some of the baby’s belongings such as a blanket or you can do the photo-shoot in its crib - it is completely up to you. Accessories such as baby booties, caps or headbands are also desirable for photo-shoots, so make sure to include them, too.

Recreate your own old photo

This can be a really interesting photo. Choose one of your own photos as a baby and try to recreate the background, pose as well as clothes. This is becoming more and more popular over the last few years, but we can’t seem to have enough of these cute photographs. Later on, you can frame both of these and hang them in your nursery. Some people even save their baby clothes, and it would be amazing if you could find that precise outfit that you wore for your shooting. Of course, improvisation will suffice in any case, so don’t stress over this too much. These photos are really going to be worth printing and framing, and they can also be a great present for your parents - I am sure that they are going to love it!

Matching clothes

Most parents choose to make these photos - family photos, and if you are one of them, you could choose to prepare matching clothes for you and your baby. If the baby is a boy, then you could dress him similarly to the father, and if we are talking about a baby girl, then she should wear the same outfit as the mother does. Don’t get obsessed with matching your outfits to the fullest, the intent is more important here. So, it would be just enough if you manage to match the colors.

Holiday related photos

With some holidays around the corner, you have plenty of thinking to do about your baby’s photo-shoot. For Christmas, make sure that you include a little bit of glitter, Christmas lights and even some clothes that have reindeers, snowflakes, Santa Claus or Christmas tree prints. Additional accessories can be a hairpiece resembling reindeer antlers or a Santa’s cap. Costumes are always cute, even if we are talking about Halloween baby costumes. Pumpkins, a witch hat or dressing up your baby as a mummy are all the possible outfits for some really unusual photos. Other holidays suitable for dressing up are Easter, Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day. There are so many interesting costumes to choose from like the costume of an Easter bunny, baby overalls embellished with little decorative eggs, hearts of various color, and St. Patrick’s Day related ones are the cutest - dress your child in a funny leprechaun costume that will leave all the people amazed. You can even dress yourself up, along with your baby, and take one big family picture.

Even if you really want to have great photos, the most important thing here is to have a really good time while preparing and during the photo-shoot. Another very important thing is to double check whether the outfit you chose is comfortable enough for you little ones. The point of this whole project is not to get pictures at any cost, if your baby is feeling uncomfortable in that outfit.

So, in order to make perfect first photos of your baby and yourself, the most important thing that you should prepare is your good mood and a radiant smile that will make your baby feel secure and comfortable. Good luck parents!
