Leadership styles may differ but followers respect their leaders only by command and not by demand.
Choose your leadership style and practice it.
Leadership styles maybe different and there is a whole debate on which style is preferable under what circumstances. We are not getting into that debate at present. Whatever be the style of leadership there are some very basics that leaders need to understand. The style defines what type of followers they will attain.
Followers are also leaders themselves in a different environment maybe as a head of the family at home. Hence everyone is a leader by default.
What does this follower expect when he is a leader from his followers? Precisely this is the point that one needs to give a thought. And what does this leader expect from his follower who is a leader himself? Read the two sentences carefully.
The answer lies in understanding the subtle message that these two sentences portray.
Whenever a leader tries to demand respect from his followers it seldom fetches positive results. Whenever a leader keeps leading from the front through his actions and not through his words he commands respect from his followers.
In the former case the followers respect the leader out of fear. In the latter the followers respect the leader from the bottom of their hearts.

Yes, all are leaders as well as followers. One leads by example; some are born leaders and the rest (most) just content to follow, though assume leadership at home! siva
