This is a poem to reflect the joy felt by a grandparent (or parent) on seeing the new baby for the first time.
On Becoming a New Grandparent
A tiny newborn baby, I knew not before today
A precious gift from God, finally here to stay
In my waiting arms is placed, on this anticipated day
While peacefully sleeping to behold in joy displayed:
Pink tiny fingers that gently twirl, then open some
To gently play, already, upon my welcoming thumb,
A newborn baby's button nose and perfect ruby lips,
And sleepy eyes trying so to take a peek at me.
A newborn baby swaddled in love, joy, and hope
For all the bright tomorrows yet to unfold
A newborn baby received today with love
Of a new life on a journey yet to be told.
Blessings to us, a new year now fulfilled
A tiny newborn baby, I knew not before today
Has found a special place from this humble start
Forever to remain nestled deep within my heart.

This is exactly how I feel about my little Tristan. He will be 1 years old next month. People have explained to me through the years just how great it was going to be, being a grammy. I never knew just how special it was until it happened last May. The best feeling ever! Just lovely. Thank you for sharing.:)

Beautiful...I wrote a similar poem about my nephew when he was born. So much inspiration from a new life waiting to unfold. They just don't stay little long enough. I loved this!
