Living life the best you can
why would a person move here, this is why, and why would he want to leave
Living the good life cheep
This is a story about the Philippines, why, well because that's where I am right now. In about 2 months I will be going to IDAHO to attend the wedding of my first grand child.
She is a beautiful young lady, her name is Ashlee Dawn Cox. A very nice and intelligent lady. Even though I have never met her husband to be, I m sure he is a nice guy and will make a good addition to the family. I have been here in the Philippines for the past 8 years, so kind of missed out on the dating scene of her and her sister Amanda , who by the way is another Cox beauty.
I came here to the Philippines looking for a good place to live and possibly have a second family, why? Well because my other kids were all grown and had lives of their own and actually I was lonesome.
Things in the states were very expensive, and I figured I could live here cheaper, I made a fact finding trip and visited a friend of mine in Northern Cebu, I stayed with him for about a month and decided this was the place. I went back to Idaho sold all my stuff and came here to live. It was nice and I enjoyed my self and I still do to some extent.
Everything was very reasonably priced , but I hate to tell you that things have gone up to the point they are unreasonable. For example rice which is the main staple here, people have the misconception that if they don't have their daily rice they will die. They get frantic if they don't have their rice everyday, and most of them eat rice three times a day.
One thing that had gone up out of sight is taxi fares, when I came here taxi was 18p flag down rate and 1.50 per half kilometer, now its going on 50.00p flag down and 40.00p per half kilometer of ride. Coming home from the mall now costs almost 150.00p, it used to be 75.00p.
I don't know how the people with their fixed wage here can live. The government wage here is only 280p a day and most work a twelve hour day. And they have lots of kids, so how are they going to feed them, put clothes on them and send them to school, on that kind of wages. To top it all off the schools here are not free.
There is a lot of fighting going on between the different factions of the government, the board of education and just people in general. The administration wants to add two more years of high school, but at the same time they want to cut the circlum in grades one to three and ax the science programs, why.? And nobody can get a straight answer.
The main thing is they want to have a twelve year educational system instead of ten years. Since the rest of Asia has a twelve year school system. As the battle continues we have to wait and see what kind of an educational system they end up with,. And I wish them luck because I won't be here to see how it comes out.
