A unique experience when you are pregnant for the first time. Mothers reading this article I am sure will agree with me.

Ouch!!! It is paining but I am helpless. In fact I am happy.

I got married in the month of January and we went for our honeymoon to the thickest jungle on earth. After all, the very purpose of a honeymoon is to get to know each other better. We had a great time together. We did face some hardships in locating a proper place to stay as we wanted to start our lives exploring things as they come.

We did not have our travel and hotel bookings just for the fun of it. We had a week to ourselves amidst animals and birds in the wilderness of the jungles of Africa. We got bit by huge mosquitoes and were susceptible to malaria. Thankfully we came back in one piece without any ailments.

Time seems to have flown away. We are now in the end of July and the result of our honeymoon seems to be bearing fruits. I feel a bit lazy one morning and the mornings from then on. I am not myself. I am not sure what is happening to me. I feel like I am about to puke. Yesterday I felt the first of the kicks of the baby in my womb. I was not sure at first but soon there was a second and followed by a third.

Now I am excited and want to share it with my husband. He is on his very important meeting in his office addressing delegates from India. Should I wait for him to return late evening and break the news or should I just lift the phone and inform him? If his meeting is important so is this news. I take courage to call him. He answers the phone amidst his meeting. He is far more excited than I am and postpones the meeting to the afternoon and rushes home.

After all it is also his first experience. We visit our Doctor and confirm it is not something I was imagining.

Oh!!! What a feeling!!! I am going to be a mom.

That's real smooth, congratulations. Lucky you, for not getting malaria, I live here in Africa and got it 36 years ago and every so often there is that familiar uncontrollable shudder which lingers just long enough to remind me of the hell I experienced all those years ago. Nice article thank you.
