Forgive And Forget and Move On

Don't just forgive and forget; forgive and forget and move on with your life.

Forgiveness is Divine

The Bible teaches us to forgive and forget and not to act based on the offense of others otherwise, we also offend God and fall short of his glory.

Many might think that this injunction is a harsh one but we also implement in other facets of human endeavour like sports. When a player is fouled in football, the one who fouls is punished in accordance with the rules of soccer.

However, if the one who was fouled takes the law into his hands and exerts a revenge on the one who fouled, he is punished for taking a revenge. Usually, such a person receives a punishment higher than that of the one who had fouled him.

Forgive And Forget And Move On

Therefore, the biblical injunction should be adhered to and even moved a step further.

We should not just stop at forgiving and forgetting. We should move a step forward by forgiving and forgetting and moving on. Don't just stop at forgiving, but, move on with your life after you have forgiven and forgotten.

Just as the soccer player who fails to forgive is punished by the referee when he exerts a revenge, so are we punished when we fail to forgive and forget and move on. Who punishes? The One whose injunctions to us has been flouted.

Therefore, forgive and forget and move on so that you may be the sons of your father who is in heaven.

I agree with the forgive and forget but how many of us do really forgive wholeheartedly let alone forget?? 90% of us may forgive but never forget what has taken place and that is human nature...

Good advice but hard to implement. In todays society if you turn the other cheek others think you are stupid and try to take further advantage. Unfortunately this is a dog-eat-dog world that we are living in which makes total and complete forgiveness an extremely difficult thing to achieve. However, I suppose we should keep on trying to reach that higher place.

Very true!!!
Not moving on make you get stuck at the same point and then forgiving even become useless as you tend to think those things again and again!

Bronn Because I find your writings very guiding and inspiring that is why am proudly following you from now onwards!! :D
