Easter is right around the corner and one of my very favorite holidays.

The scaredness of Easter

For christian like myself Easter is a time of reflection and remember the sacarifce that Jesus made for us. He died on the cross and rose three days laters as Easter is once again at our doorstep I found it fiting to write about out tradition of Easter. Well really don't get into the whole Easter bunny thing of Easter because for us Easter is remembering about what Jesus did for us.

Although holidays are hard for me emotionally because of all the passing of our loved ones I made up my mind to keep most of the traditions of the holidays going for our children. I used to always love the holidays because it would one of the few and rare time where everyone for a couple of hours would act like a family for the sake of my grandmother. Out of all the holidays my favorite ones are Christmas and Easter. The traditions we have in our family starts off by going to church Easter morning then coming home and inviting my mother and a few friends over for an easter egg hunt and dinner. We usually let the kids have their easter egg hunt while my husband and I prepare dinner that way the kids are kept busy and have a chance to wear some of their energy out. Then after everything is prepare and the table is set and the kids get washed up we begin by reading from the bible about the resurrection of Jesus and saying a blessing over the food. Then we enjoy a time of wonderful food and fellowship we our close loved ones.

Our traditional Easter dinner

This is normally our traditional easter dinner it started way back with my great grandma.

Menu
Ham
Sweet potatoes
Mashed potatoes
green bean casserole
angel eggs
baked beans
salad

For the ham
preheat oven to 350 in a greased baking pan place the ham and if desired add pineapple rings with marchenio cherries and sprinkle a little brown sugar over the top. Bake for 2 hours with aluminunin foil on top.

For the Sweet potatoes
you can use fresh or cannded. If you use fresh cut them into smaller pieces so they cook better. Oven should already be on in greased casserole pan layer your potatoes then add about 1 cup of walnuts and 1 bag of marshollows cover with foil and bake for 1hour.

For the green bean casserole

2 bag of frozen green beans
1 large can of golden mushroom soup
1 can french's onions
In a large casserole dish layer green beans and soup. Add frenchs onions on top and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes

For angel eggs
Angel eggs are the same as deviled eggs.

First boil 1 carton of eggs. Let cool and take the shell off. carefully cut the eggs into half putting all of the yolks into a bowl. Add about 1/2 cup of mustard and 2 tbsp of sugar. Mix throughouly. Scope the mixture into the egg halves and store in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

I didnt add a recipe for the mashed potatoes, baked beans, or salad. because mashed potatoes are just your standard mashed potatoes you can use fresh or box. The baked beans well I use canned put them in a baking pan add a little brown sugar and bacon and bake for about 10 minutes. The salad can be whatever you want it to be.
