Fairly an imagination on Buddha - before enlightenment and after enlightenment.

He quit the palace

Siddhardha disappeared from the palace at the age of 29, despite his father’s efforts to hide him from death, sick and suffering.

Before leaving, he looked at his wife and wanted to tell her, ‘I am going’. He wanted to touch his just born baby because he may not come back again. Yashodhara, his wife, was fast asleep, beautiful, smiling-must have been dreaming!. He waited there looking for few seconds, suppressed the urge to tell and leave because he was afraid –his wife was bound to cry and weep and create a scene.

He was afraid of himself too! If she cries and weeps, he may become aware of his own commitments –‘I will love you forever and I will be with you forever’. What about Rahul, one day born? Yashodhara may accuse-‘Look, what you have done to me? Why you gave birth to this child? Who will be his father, if you go away? Am I alone responsible for him if you escape like a coward?’. In his sleep, Siddhardha promised his father also, being the only son.

But, he has realized…in sleep everyone promises, not knowing how to fulfill, everyone goes on giving promises. It happens in sleep because nobody is conscious of whatever is happening.

He quit his palace in search of truth, enlightenment.

Buddha-after enlightenment

Siddhardha became Buddha and came back after twelve years. Yashodhara was waiting to ask him, ‘Why didn’t you tell me? You simply left me. What kind of love is this?’

Buddha was silent for a while. …., and he said, ‘Before leaving, I looked at you. You may think I am a coward and escaped from the palace like a thief, not like a warrior. To me, that moment was the greatest bravery to awake. Now, I came to you enlightened to fulfill. I brought a great treasure with me. Don’t weep. Look at me, I can make you also aware and enlightened.’

Yashodhara listened and started thinking about the child. If she becomes a sanyasin and moves with this beggar, what will happen to Rahul? The feminine mind is more asleep than a male mind.

A woman is a great dreamer and lives more in hopes and dreams, in a deep hypnotic state only then she can carry a child nine months in the womb and suffer- give birth and then suffer-bring up the child, then suffer. One day, the child will simply leave her and go to another woman……then suffer.

A woman is bound to suffer a long suffering, but she always hopes…..hopes with another child, then with another child.

Buddha said, ‘ I know you are a great dreamer than me. Now, I came to cut all the roots of your sleep. Where is my son? Bring him to me’.

The feminine mind played a trick again. She brought Rahul and said, ‘This is your father who became a beggar. Ask him what his heritage is for you?’

Buddha laughed and gave the begging bowl to Rahul and said, ‘This is my heritage. Now, you become a sanyasin. You are initiated’.

And he said to his wife, ‘Now I cut the very root. There is no need to dream anymore. You also awake!’
